3rd Person's POV
"You're hiding something from this school, aren't you?" Elizabeth asked them both while walking towards each other.
"None of your goddamn business, Elizabeth. Get out of the way!" Ember replied angrily.
"Shhh!" Luer tried to calm Ember as she was about to attack her,
"No, we weren't. It's just a normal secret between us friends. It's definitely none of your business but it's really not a big of a deal! Nothing to worry about, okay? Don't overthink any of this, just proceed where you're going-- we're leaving now, bye!" she added while grabbing her friend out of there and left Elizabeth there.
Elizabeth was confused, looking at them as they walk away.
Luer's POV
"She's quite a nosy one, huh?" I teased Ember with a grin.
"Yeah, but don't let her get to you. I heard she's got some serious connections. Her mom graduated from here and left a pretty big legacy," Ember explained as we made our way to Liyah's room.
I knocked lightly on the door before pushing it open. "Liyah~" I called out with a playful voice.
She was facing the other way, but when she turned and saw me, her eyes lit up. It was such a simple thing, but the way she smiled at me sent a flutter through my chest, and for a moment, I forgot how to breathe.
"Oh, aren't you just a pretty girl?" I teased, moving closer to her. Ember giggled behind me and followed.
"Are we good now? Did they harm you?" Liyah asked, her tone soft but worried as she gently started fixing my hair.
Yeshua's POV
Ruth and I were walking around the school after some fun, I enjoyed being with her as well as guarding her. We were eating while heading to her dorm as the noise began to fade.
"Thank you for spending the day with me, Yeshua. It means a lot to me." She said.
She held my hand and gripped them tightly, showing her gratitude.
"I really missed you and this moment with you just brings back our old memories together. I wish we could be this close forever!" She added while letting soft smile on her face, her eyes filled with joy.
"Oh.. mhm." I nodded.
Suddenly, I saw Wayne from afar staring at her. He's from her behind and she doesn't seem to notice. I suddenly thought... What if he likes her? What if he thinks she's pretty. I thought I shouldn't care but it still bothers me. God, what am I thinking?
"Alright, see you around." I said and waved good bye to her and we part ways.
I went near Wayne and he looks like he's not in a good mood, for a moment I thought he's an imposter.
"What are you doing out here with that frowny face?" I asked him and tilted my head.
"Am I not aloud to be upset?" He replied quite annoyed.
"You're upset?"
"What did I just said? Yes, I am upset... sorta." He said and looked the other way, his eyebrows frowning a bit.
"How come you're upset?" I questioned him and sat down a on a plant platform.
He sighed and sat next to me saying, "You wouldn't understand," he mumbled.
"Bitch? How am I supposed to understand when you're not telling me?"
"Yeshua, can't you think for once! Observe, will you?" He screamed and looked me straight in the eyes.
"Argh! Stop screaming, you're too noisy!" I reasoned out. I tried thinking on why he's mad and what it is about.
Is it because I left him? Ah-- Is it because of Ruth? Does he likes Ruth? He likes Ruth, doesn't he? I don't know what to tell him, he could have Ruth but I mean he could also have someone like...
"I'm sorry," he muttered, distracting my thoughts and coming back to reality.
"You know I don't understand you." I said
"I'm being such a jerk right now. What even are we?"
...
Those question led us to silence, this guy kept being a pain in the ass. I hate him. I hate him so much... But how can I hate someone like him? His soft, pretty eyes and perfectly curled hair. Wasn't he just so... perfect?
.
.
"Can you stop being dramatic? Ruth is just a friend. She's not my lover, so if you want to court her, go ahead," I said, staring him down with annoyance.
"Huh?" He blinked looking so confused.
"I know you're not the guy for her but it's not like I give a fuck. So, go ahead and court her, she's single anyway." I replied while pulling out my cigarette.
My hand felt so heavy. They were shaking, and I hated it. Was it because of my feelings? Why did he get under my skin so easily? Every little thing he did set me off, and I couldn't stand it. I hated him so much... or at least, I tried to convince myself I did.
He raised an eyebrow, clearly confused. "Why are you even saying this? It's not about Ruth."
I exhaled sharply. "Then what is it about? Because I'm tired of playing these stupid games with you."
He just looked at me in silent, like he had something to say but was holding them back. He has this blank face that only made me more mad. I wanted to scream at him, punch him, do anything to break this silent. But I just stood there, waiting for something, anything.
He ran his hand through his hair and let out a dry laugh. "Forget it," he muttered, turning his back on me.
Typical. He always left things unfinished, and I hated it.
.
.
.
I stomped out my cigarette, "Are you really just going to walk away again? That's all you ever do—leave when things get hard," I shouted after him, but my voice sounded sharper than I meant it to be.
He stopped, but didn't turn around.
For a second, I thought he'd ignore me, like always. But then without looking back, he said, "You seriously don't get it, do you?"
He said it so different. I wanted to snap back, but I couldn't. He sounded... tired. Almost as tired as I felt.
Finally, he turned around and looked at me. "This isn't about Ruth, or anyone else. It's about you—about us. I'm done acting like this doesn't mean anything."
I can feel my heart racing, but I wasn't going to show it. "What are you talking about?"
He went near me, so close I couldn't breathe...
"I'm saying that no matter how much we argue, or how much we push each other away, this... whatever this is between us, it's real. And I'm not going to keep walking away from it." Wayne said in such tone while grabbing my hand tightly.
I just stood there, frozen, not sure whether to let him in or keep pushing him away.
Before either of us could say more, his phone rang loudly breaking the silence. He finally let go and looked at the screen—it was a message, and it wasn't good.
The moment was gone.
