Ace's eyes fluttered open, his gaze shifting to his window, closed. No light peeked in, only stars glittering in the early morning sky stared back at him.
The tired husky released a deep sigh. He sat up, pushing the hair out of his eyes to rub them. He reached a hand out and tapped his lamp, sending a thin, dull light into the room. He looked around the small room, cursing to himself.
He sighed, remembering his simple life on the farm. He remembered sitting in the fields in the early morning, having already fed the cattle. He would watch the sun come up, kicking his legs as he sat on the fence, the cows waking early to eat. Now? Now he was going to public school. He hated public school. He didn't know anyone!! All he knew was his old friend Damian. Damian had an older brother that had gone to the school. Later on, Damian's family began working for Ace's family. But, after family emergencies, the farm was sold and Ace's family had to move. Now, they would exchange texts, constantly, Damian would warn Ace about the school, telling him the way to skip it and other things.
Ace stood up, ears dropping. He walked over to his closet, pulling the door open as he grabbed a plaid shirt, blue boxers, and black jeans. He quickly dressed up and walked into his living room quietly, shuffling to the bathroom. Ace wet his toothbrush, adding his mint toothpaste and brushing his teeth.
As Ace spat into the sink, he begrudgingly lifted his hairbrush with a sigh. As he began to brush his hair, the brush pulling the areas brushed, causing surges of pain as Ace stared blankly at himself in the mirror.
After 10 minutes, Ace was done. He lowered the brush and stepped into the living room, taking the short 10 step walk to his room again. He dragged his feet as he closed his door and sat on his bed with a sigh. He looked at his phone.
1 message from Damian!
Ace picked up the phone, staring at the message and reading it slowly.
Sup Ace! I know you get up early. Don't hate school, it's fun! You can just scream the whole time and all you get is "Stop!!" And nothing else!! You can slack off and do whatever!!
"Tch, yeah right!" He scoffed. Now, the first light of dawn was peeking into the room. Ace messaged back
Still gonna suck. Miss you bro...
He stared at the message for a moment. The second Damian messaged back, Ace turned his phone off and stood up, walking into the living room.
