WARREN HALE

I gaped at Eman's words, my eyes widening. I didn't know what had come over her these days but ever since she got married, she had lost her filter. She didn't curse but the things she said...

"When did you turn into such a horndog?" I didn't want to know that one of my best friends was trying to have sex with his wife right now. I knew enough about their sex lives as it was. "You were a virgin for twenty-one years of your life—Yeah, no, I get it." I pursed my lips, nodding.

"Exactly. Now spill. Why'd you call?" She asked and I could almost picture her scowl.

"I have sent you a package. I was going to send it to Ahvi but she has been alternating between Ren's apartment and Jace's house so I didn't know where she will be when the package reaches her. So, I sent it to you instead. It is a phone. Well, it is Corvina's phone-"

"What?!" Eman cut me off.

"Yes, it's a long story. I got my hands on her phone so now I am using it as a way to keep her from killing me." I explained, sitting down on my bed and removing my shoes and socks. Having been upgraded to the penthouse wasn't so bad. I had all the privacy in the world and it was comfortable with a gorgeous view of the city.

"You sent me a phone that you stole from your killer?" Eman questioned. "Are you out of your mind?!"

"Don't worry. I am coming back to London next week for Jace's housewarming party. You just have to take care of the phone for me till then. And no matter what happens, Eman, don't tell anybody." I answered. I was planning on taking the phone from Eman the moment I landed in London. I just needed to get it away from New York because I knew Corvina would somehow dig it up.

"I have to go," Eman said and I heard a muffled voice on the other end of the line. "Sure, Henrietta. I will call you when I have taken a look at the designs."

She hung up and I frowned. Henrietta? Really? That was the name she came up with? Shaking my head, I was about to slip into bed when the elevator dinged.

I straightened as I pulled the robe I had changed into during my call with Eman, tighter around my body and walked out of my room. The living area was dimly lit and right past that was the elevator, wide open and a figure stepping out.

I squinted before a smile tugged on my lips. Corvina's glare was enough to turn me to ashes as she advanced toward me at a speed that I didn't expect. The smile was knocked right off my face as she was upon me, slamming me against the pillar right behind me, her hand wrapping around my throat. Hot breath fanned my face as she panted.

"Who do you think you are?" She demanded, grey eyes blazing. I smiled again, unbothered by the way her hand was cutting off my oxygen supply. God, something was really wrong with me.

"Warren Hale. But I am assuming you already know that." I answered even though my voice came out raspy.

"Don't be smart with me, Hale. I can end you right now." She threatened.

"But you won't. You don't want to go to prison for murder, do you?" I challenged and she grew angrier, if it was even possible. Her hand unwrapped around my throat and she lowered it, her jaw clenching. "Although I must ask. To what do I owe this pleasure?" I rubbed my throat, eyeing her.

Her eyes narrowed as she shot me a look that was sexy and scary at the same time. "The text you sent to my burner. How did you find out about my burner?" She questioned.

"I know people, Corvina." I smirked. Ahvi had helped me get Corvina's new number. But I wasn't about to tell her that. Or the fact that I had contacted the assassins from her Academy who had sold her out instantly. I didn't tell her the second part, mostly because I didn't want to hurt her.
