''...Yes father.''

Under the orders of the grand duke, Raven stood upright and stepped forward calmly until she was standing a reasonable distance before the desk. Following her actions was nothing but a penetrating silence in the office.

'...How intimidating.' She remarked inwardly with her gaze docilely lowered to the bare floor. The grand duke was before her, yet she somehow had the urge to flee from his presence.

She, the dangerous criminal codenamed Chaos, wanted to run away from a mere character of a novel? How interesting.

It seemed she has not gotten full control of the original Raven's body. Unlike the sixth madam, the grand duke was someone she hardly met. It was already hard for her to control the trembles in the presence of the sixth madam and the other members of the Langston family. How much more could she control in the presence of the grand duke?

This was practically their first personal meeting as father and daughter.

''How did you escape the ambush of your attackers, Raven? I find it hard to believe that a mere elite slave was capable of ending the lives of trained killers.'' The grand duke finally broke the tensed silence between them.

''W-What do you mean, father?'' The deep-rooted fear within her stuttered her voice. ''The elite slave that you selected was naturally of great use to this daughter.'' Her voice shook slightly, but Raven forced herself to get rid of the tremors in her voice.

As expected, the grand duke was interested in if she had awakened the power. The man had already done his investigations. He didn't even bother to ask about the health of his daughter....not that she minded anyway.

Though the grand duke was more straightforward with his curiosity, unlike the grand duchess who used a shrewd way of questioning her.

'I wonder....' Raven narrowed her eyes in thoughts. If the grand duke had truly done his investigations, could he be aware of the true culprit behind the ambush?

'The grand duchess and her son also seemed to have visited him....' Raven wondered briefly before pushing her thoughts away.

'I should think about that after this.'

'Lucifer, is there a way to hide my awakening from the grand duke?' Raven was quick to transmit her thoughts to Lucifer. She should have asked this question long before coming to the main manor.

If possible, Raven would like to hide the fact that she had awakened from the entire Langston family, including the grand duke. Though it was a little late since the grand duke was already before her.

''There is no need to hide your powers, my queen.'' An immediate reply came from Lucifer. ''This human is utterly weak in sensing your powers.''

'Huh?' His words momentarily confused Raven. Weak? The grand duke? However, she had no time to dwell on his words as her knees suddenly buckled to the ground with her chest tightening up out of nowhere.

''W-Wh....'' Raven clutched her chest, briefly wondering what was happening as she unexpectedly found it hard to breathe. An attack? But her senses were alert! How did she not sense an attack?

Beads of sweat dripped to the bare floor as she panted loudly from the sudden seizure. Why did her chest feel so tight all of a sudden?

''I dislike speaking around in circles, Raven. It seems you have grown quite arrogant from that battle with your brother.'' The grand duke's voice came through as she tried to get her breathing under control.

''F-Fa...'' From her spot, she tried to look up at the grand duke, but another wave of pain collapsed in her chest. It was as though something within squeezed her trachea tighter than before.
