Raven's eyes flickered over to the lady with a mole underneath her right eyelid. Her gaze met the smiling dark emerald eyes of the fourth madam.

She plastered a smile on her lips. ''You overpraise me, fourth madam.''

Why did this woman suddenly include her name in the conversation? She was perfectly fine with an invisible presence on the table, just like the sixth madam.

''You speak truthfully, fourth sister.'' As if the fourth madam was not enough, the grand duchess also inputted her words.

Though the grand duchess looked down on the flattery fourth madam, she had to admit that the words of the lady were right on the spot.

The moments she had seen the fourth young lady could hardly be counted. Compared to the last family dinner, the fourth young lady had significantly grown over the years. Not only in height, but her appearance seemed cuter, even as the years had passed.

As a lady of beauty, the grand duchess knew that once the fourth young lady shed her cute appearance into a lady with high cheekbones and slim face, her innate beauty would definitely outshine most of the unmarried ladies in the empire.

Besides that, the fourth young lady took after the features of her husband, the grand duke. In her maiden age, the unmarried grand duke was a top bachelor for unmarried ladies, mostly because of his stunning looks.

As a blossoming lady, the fourth young lady certainly could not lag behind.

''Sixth sister has done a wonderful duty in raising the fourth young lady.'' The grand duchess added to her remark. She couldn't help but recall the other child that also took the grand duke's features. Her mood dropped abruptly when thinking of the hateful wench by her side with a son suppressing her Eegan in every way.

The changes in the grand duchess did not by unnoticed. Now most attention was on the pair of silent mother and daughter, as they were the topic of the conversation.

''.....'' Raven suddenly had a thought. Perhaps the wives of the grand duke from a descending order had a thing for troubling her. Last time, it was the fifth madam, and now, the fourth madam seemed to have taken her place.

''Your excellency's words are truly exaggerated.'' Sensing the change in the atmosphere, the sixth madam paused her meal and turned her gaze to the grand duchess and fourth madam. ''Even if Raven were to be in her prime, she could never hold a candle to your excellency.'' Even in the face of praises for her own daughter's beauty, her voice remained as indifferent as ever.

''Sixth sister is right, your excellency. No one could match the beauty of your excellency.'' The fourth madam, sensing an opportunity, quickly followed up with her words. Meanwhile, the sixth madam continued her meal, not minding the eager fourth madam.

Raven watched the grand duchess's face lightened up at the fourth madam's words. Well, it had to be said the sixth madam certainly had a way with words, and the fourth madam's flattery was on point.

''The fourth young lady is still young with time on her side. Who knows what the future holds? Beauty, after all, fades away in a matter of time.'' The grand duchess spoke in a lighter tone.

''Nevertheless, sixth sister won't have to worry about the fourth young lady's marriage once she debuts at her coming of age ceremony.''

''......'' Once again, Raven wondered how this conversation led to her marriage matters. Frankly speaking, it wasn't wrong to be speaking of marriage at this young age of hers in an era like this.

However, why did her own marriage have to be in the spotlight like this?!

''Your excellency speaks correctly. The young ladies of the Langston family won't have to worry about their marriage matters.'' The fourth madam chimed in. ''Speaking of marriage, I wonder when third sister would settle the first young lady's engagement?'' She directed her words to the ginger- haired lady on her right.
