Early the next morning Addison woke up to the insistent ringing of Meredith's phone. She gently shifted Meredith closer to Arizona and slipped out of bed, grabbing the phone and walking out to the balcony. She rolled her eyes as she answered.
"Hello? I don't know who this is, but are you aware that it's only 5am?" Addison spat into the phone with a yawn.
"Meredith?" The voice on the other side slurred.
"No, she's still sleeping. Who is this?" Addison asked.
"I'm her father. Who is this?" Thatcher snapped.
"She doesn't want to talk to you. Don't call this number again." Addison growled before hanging the phone up. She went to block the number, only for the phone to start ringing again. She ignored the call, but Thatcher called right back. "Stop calling."
"I want to talk to my daughter!" Thatcher roared drunkenly down the phone.
"She doesn't want to talk to you, even if she did she's sleeping and I am not waking her up." Addison argued back, rubbing her temple and taking a deep breath.
"Who the fuck is this?!" Thatcher demanded.
"This is Addison Montgomery. Now stop calling this number!" Addison exclaimed before hanging out once again. She jumped when she felt arms wrap around her before relaxing back into Arizona's hold.
"Let's sit down, my love." Arizona whispered before gently leading Addison over to the chair and pulling her to sit in her lap. Meredith's phone started ringing and Arizona took it out of Addison's hand before she could answer it again. "Hello?"
"I want to speak to Meredith!" Thatcher screeched. "You can't keep me from my child!"
"Meredith is asleep right now." Arizona reasoned in a calm voice.
"Wake her up!" Thatcher threw a bottle at the wall, causing Arizona to flinch at the sound of shattering glass. Addison took the phone out of her hand bringing it to her own ear.
"Mr. Grey. It is very early, we are not waking up Meredith. She doesn't want to speak to you and we are not going to force her. Please stop calling." Addison sighed and hung up, quickly blocking the number and putting the phone down. "Please remind me of all the reasons I shouldn't kill Richard."
"You're not a fan of orange and they don't have high heels in prison." Arizona chuckled. "So Thatcher finally called?"
"Yeah, I think he was drunk." Addison shook her head.
"That would explain the rage and the sound of broken glass." Arizona sighed. "Did you block the number?"
"Yeah. Are we going to tell Mer the next time she's big?" Addison asked, smiling when Arizona began running fingers through her hair.
"I think we should." Arizona murmured as she pressed a kiss to Addison's temple.
"I don't want her to get scared or upset. I just want to protect her and keep her safe." Addison whispered.
"Me too, but she has a right to know that her father called." Arizona responded.
"She's never going to forgive Richard for giving out her phone number." Addison said, shutting her eyes and taking a deep breath. "I'm not sure I can forgive him either." She opened Meredith's phone and dialed Richard's number, bringing the phone to her ear.
"Addie, what are you doing?" Arizona asked as she furrowed her brows in confusion.
"Calling Richard." Addison stated simply.
"Meredith?" Richard asked when he answered the phone. "Are you okay?"
"It's not Meredith, it's Addison. I'm just using her phone." Addison started. "I would have used my phone, but I'd have to get up and go in the room to get it and that could potentially wake her up and I prefer not do that this early, so I figured I'd just use her phone since it was already in my hand considering it's been ringing off the hook since 4:30am."
