The day started like any other, but there was a subtle energy in the air, a sense of anticipation that I couldn’t quite put my finger on. Everyone seemed to be in unusually high spirits, especially Ahaan, who was grinning from ear to ear. Kartik, Sid, and Shanaya kept exchanging secretive looks, their whispers barely audible as they glanced over at Suhana, who was sitting next to me, flipping through a magazine.
“Ananya, don’t you think they’re acting a bit weird?” Suhana asked, her brows furrowing in confusion.
I shrugged, trying to keep my face neutral. “Maybe they’re just planning something fun for the trip.”
Suhana narrowed her eyes, suspicion creeping into her voice. “They better not be up to something crazy.”
Little did she know, today was going to be anything but ordinary.

As the day progressed, I noticed Ahaan becoming more and more restless. He kept checking his phone, stepping outside for hushed conversations that seemed to only heighten the sense of mystery. Suhana started getting more curious, and I could tell she was piecing things together, but I stayed tight-lipped, knowing the surprise was worth the wait.
By mid-afternoon, Ahaan finally gathered us all together, announcing that he wanted to take us to a special spot on Carolina Beach for a sunset picnic. Suhana gave me a curious glance, and I simply smiled back, urging her to go along with it.
We all got ready and headed out to the beach, where Ahaan led us to a secluded spot. As we rounded a bend, Suhana gasped. The area had been transformed into a picturesque setting straight out of a dream. There were lanterns hanging from the trees, fairy lights twinkling around a beautifully set table, and a path of rose petals leading down to the shoreline. The sun was just beginning to set, casting a golden glow over everything.
“Ahaan, what is this?” Suhana asked, her voice trembling slightly as realization began to dawn on her.
Ahaan turned to face her, his expression soft and serious. “Suhana, I’ve been planning this for a while now. I wanted this moment to be perfect because you deserve nothing less.”
I watched as Suhana’s eyes filled with tears, and I felt my own heart swell with happiness for her. Ahaan took her hands in his, his gaze never leaving hers.
“I’ve known you for so long, Suhana. You’ve been my friend, my confidante, and the one who makes every day brighter just by being in it. I can’t imagine my life without you, and I don’t want to. I love you, Suhana, more than words can ever express. Will you marry me?”
