The next morning, I woke up early, my mind filled with thoughts of Ananya. Today was the day. I had to make things right. I quickly got ready and headed to the airport, hoping everything would go as planned.
As I drove, I couldn't help but replay the conversation with Ahaan and Sid in my mind. They had faith in me, and I had to prove them right. When I arrived at the airport, Sid was already there, waiting with his usual energetic smile.
"Hey, bro! Ready for this?" Sid asked, giving me a playful punch on the shoulder.
"As ready as I'll ever be," I replied, trying to mask mnerves.
We waited for Ahaan, Suhana, and Shanaya, who were supposed to bring Ananya. My heart raced with anticipation. I hoped she wouldn't refuse to come.
Meanwhile, at Ananya's house, Suhana and Shanaya arrived early in the morning, as planned. They found Ananya in her room, still in her pajamas.
"Good morning, sleepyhead!" Suhana chirped, pulling the curtains open.
Ananya groaned, shielding her eyes from the sudden brightness. "What are you two doing here so early?"
"We have a surprise for you!" Shanaya said, bouncing with excitement.
"A surprise?" Ananya asked, raising an eyebrow.
"Yes! We are going on a trip to the Carolina Beach farmhouse! Just us girls and Ahaan. It'll be fun!" Suhana explained.
"But...what about Mom and Dad?" Ananya questioned.
"They couldn't make it. Your Dad has some work commitments, and your Mom decided to stay back with him. But they insisted we go and have a good time," Suhana said convincingly.
Ananya hesitated. "I don't know. I'm not really in the mood."
Shanaya took her hands and said, "Come on, Ananya. You need a break. It'll be good for you. Plus, we've already packed everything. Just get ready, and let's go."
After some more convincing, Ananya reluctantly agreed. She got dressed and packed a few things, still feeling a bit uneasy but willing to give it a chance for her friends.
Back at the airport, Ahaan finally arrived with the girls and Ananya in tow. My heart skipped a beat when I saw her. She looked beautiful, even though her face still carried a hint of sadness.
"Hey, guys! Ready for the trip?" Ahaan greeted us, trying to keep the mood light.
"Absolutely," Sid replied, giving me a knowing look.
Ananya's eyes widened when she saw me. "Kartik...what are you doing here?"
"I...uh...I'm coming along too. Ahaan thought it would be a good idea for all of us to go together," I said, trying to sound casual.
Ananya's face hardened for a moment, but she didn't say anything. We boarded the flight, and I could feel the tension between us. I knew this trip was my chance to make things right, but it wouldn't be easy.
