Two weeks had passed since the party, and I was still waiting for her call. I even tried to call her several times, but she never picked up. Each time I heard the ring go unanswered, my heart sank a little more. I thought her anger would fade, but it didn't. It's hard knowing that she hates me.
My thoughts were interrupted by a knock on the door. It was my secretary, Karan.
"Sir, everyone is waiting for you. The foreign client is in the meeting room," he said.
"Okay, I'm coming," I replied, trying to refocus on my work.
I tried to immerse myself in my work, not because I wanted to forget her, but because I needed a distraction. Today's meeting was the biggest one since my dad opened this company. I took a deep breath, picked up my coat, and headed into the meeting room.
Meeting finished...
I walked out of the meeting room, and saw Ahaan and Sid standing there.
"What happened, bro? Did it not go well?" Ahaan asked, patting my shoulder.
"It's okay, Kartik. It's not the end. You'll crack a bigger meeting than this," he continued.
Sid interjected, "Ek minute, usko bolne toh de. Phele hi ulta bol raha hai tu. Haa, bhai, bol kya hua?"
I couldn't hold back my smile. "Woh meeting... it was successful. I got the deal."
Ahaan and Sid's faces lit up. We hugged each other tightly, celebrating the victory. Sid was staring at me with a strange look on his face.
"What happened?" I asked.
"Nothing. Just happy to see this smile after almost two weeks," Sid replied.
Realizing it was time, I decided to tell Ahaan the whole story. Sid had been trying to convince me to tell Ahaan about Ananya, but I had always refused. But now, I felt ready.
"Ahaan, I need to talk to you about something," I said.
Sid looked at me with confusion. I nodded, indicating it was time. I told Ahaan everything about me and Ananya.
"Kartik, I know you're not bad for my sister. I've accepted you with her since I knew you were in love with her," Ahaan said, surprising me.
"How did you know?" I stammered.
"I've had a hint for a long time, but I wasn't sure," Ahaan admitted.
"Yes, you're right. I love her. I can't forget about her. I just want to see her happy," I confessed.
Sid chimed in, "I told him to confess his feelings to Ananya, but he always said he couldn't."
Ahaan said, "Yes, Kartik. Meet her and tell her you love her."
"I think about her all the time and It hurts... Like my chest physically hurts to not be able to tell her that I'm in love with her. I feel guilt, seeing tears in her eyes because of me," I said, my face flushed.
Ahaan put his hand on my shoulder and hugged me. "It's okay, Kartik. I know my sister. She can never stay angry for long. We'll find a way to make her realize you love her and that what she heard wasn't true, okay?"
I nodded. Sid then said, "Now give us a party! You cracked such a big deal, and I'm starving. I haven't eaten anything because I thought I'd celebrate with you."
I laughed, and we went to my favorite Chinese restaurant, Sagar Chinese near Juhu. After finishing our food, we went to our respective homes.
Third person pov-
Ahaan arrived home and gathered everyone in the living room. The atmosphere was filled with curiosity as they waited for Ahaan to speak.
"Guess what? Kartik cracked a huge deal today! It's one of the biggest his company has ever secured," Ahaan announced proudly.
Ananya's parents beamed with pride. "That's wonderful news! Kartik is really making a name for himself," Ananya's mom said.
Ananya, however, couldn't help but feel a pang of bitterness. She tried to hide it, but her heart was conflicted.
Meanwhile, at Kartik's home, he shared the news with his family.
"Dad, I did it. I closed the deal," Kartik said, unable to hide his excitement.
His dad's face lit up with pride. "I'm so proud of you, son. This is a monumental achievement."
His mom hugged him tightly. "I always knew you had it in you."
Despite the celebration, Kartik couldn't shake off the feeling of emptiness. The only person he truly wanted to share this victory with was Ananya, but she wasn't there.
Ahaan's Home
After the initial excitement died down, Ahaan approached Ananya.
"Ananya, are you okay? You seemed a bit off earlier," he asked gently.
"I'm fine, Ahaan. Just a bit tired," she replied, forcing a smile.
Ahaan knew his sister well enough to sense she was not okay. "You know, Kartik really cares about you. Whatever happened, it's clear he's deeply affected too."
Ananya looked away, tears welling up in her eyes. "I don't want to talk about it, Ahaan."
"Just give him a chance to explain. You might not have the full story," Ahaan said softly.
Ananya nodded slightly, but her heart was still heavy with confusion and hurt.
Kartik's Home
Kartik sat in his room, thinking about Ahaan's words. He decided he couldn't let things remain as they were. He needed to clear the air with Ananya. Suddenly a message popped on his phone. It was Sid he messaged on the group that he made recently. There are only three people in the group Kartik, Ahaan and Sid himself. He messaged "Hey guys. I got an idea! We should go on a trip so that Kartik you would get time with Ananya." Kartik Replied "But where?" Ahaan messaged "We can go to our farmhouse CAROLINA BEACH" Sid replied "Great!" Ahaan asked should I add Suhana Shanaya? They could help us to bring Ananya there!" Sid said "Naah Bro! What if they told Ananya about our plan?!" Ahaan said "They won't! Don't worry."
Ahaan added Suhana Shanaya in the group and told their plans to them "Don't worry guys. We'll bring Ananya with us." Suhana said. "Yes and we also want Ananya Kartik to be together" Shanaya said.
Kartik thanked them all and asked "But when we are going?" Ahaan said "whenever you all are free" Sid said WE ARE FREE BRO. Kartik said "Me too. There is no such an important work till the next weekend" Ahaan said "okay then we are going tomorrow! Be ready at 8AM and Suhana Shanaya you come early and convence Ananya to come with us and don't tell her that Kartik is going too, if you tell her that he's going too then she'll never agree to go with us. Just tell her that me, you two and mom and dad is going with us baaki I'll tell you once you reach home. I want you two at 6AM. And Kartik And Sid you reach directly to the airport at 8AM I've told my manager to book the tickets and I'll manage all the things."
Everyone replied "OKAYYY."
