The morning sun cast a golden hue over the Carolina Beach farmhouse, signaling the start of another day filled with opportunities to mend my relationship with Ananya. I stretched, feeling a mix of excitement and nervousness. Today, I hoped, would bring us closer.

I headed downstairs to find everyone gathered for breakfast. Ahaan and Sid were joking around, while Suhana and Shanaya were helping Ananya set the table. Ananya caught my eye and gave a small smile, which warmed my heart.

"Morning, everyone," I greeted, taking a seat next to Ananya.

"Morning, Kartik," they chorused.

As we ate, Ahaan suggested a friendly game of beach volleyball. Everyone agreed, eager to start the day with some fun. We divided into teams: Ahaan, Suhana, and Sid against Ananya, Shanaya, and me.

The game was filled with laughter and playful banter. At one point, Ananya and I both dove for the ball, colliding and falling into the sand.

"Ouch!" Ananya exclaimed, laughing as she tried to get up.

"Sorry, Ananya!" I said, offering her my hand.

"It's fine, Kartik. But next time, try not to tackle me," she teased, taking my hand and pulling herself up.

As the game continued, Suhana and Ahaan exchanged glances, their unspoken feelings evident. Ahaan's encouragements to Suhana and her shy smiles were hard to miss. I made a mental note to talk to Ahaan about it later.

After the game, we all decided to cool off with a swim. Ananya and I swam side by side, the cool water a welcome relief from the heat.

"Kartik, race you to the buoy!" Ananya challenged suddenly, her competitive spirit shining through.

"You're on!" I replied, and we both took off.

We swam with all our might, and I couldn't help but admire Ananya's determination. She reached the buoy just seconds before me, laughing triumphantly.

"I win!" she declared, splashing water at me.

"Only because I let you," I teased, splashing her back.

"Sure, keep telling yourself that," she replied, her eyes sparkling with mischief.

We floated on our backs, catching our breath. "Ananya, I'm really glad we're doing this," I said quietly.

"Me too, Kartik. It feels good to have fun together again," she admitted, her voice soft.

We swam back to shore, joining the others who were lounging on the sand. Suhana and Ahaan were deep in conversation, their body language hinting at something more than friendship. I decided it was time for a little intervention.

"Hey, Ahaan, let's grab some drinks from the farmhouse," I suggested, motioning for him to follow me.

"Sure, bro," he agreed, getting up.
