*Shadow's POV *
I was holding him again, I had him in my arms, I could feel his soft fur against mine again. I could still feel his lips on mine from our earlier kiss, he was mine again.
I had come here to tell him we should both move on this time. I had come here to make sure we would not end up together again. But look at us now.
He rested back on me as I rested back on the couch, he sat between my legs and held my hand, he was still softly crying but I could tell it wasn't put of sadness at all. I can't believe we wasted all this time trying to fight our feelings.
"What do we do?" Sonic asked and looked back at me after he cleaned his tears.
"What do you mean?" I asked confused and kissed his forehead. I couldn't help it. I didn't want to let go.
"The kids." Sonic said and I realized what he was trying to say.
"Oh." I stayed quiet for a bit and looked up at the ceiling. "We should wait on telling them anything. We still don't even know what's going to happen. I just bought a house." I chuckled.
"Great timing." Sonic joked making me roll my eyes playfully knowing he needed to stay in the castle. "So then we continue what we were doing? And secretly see each other?" Sonic chuckled and I nodded.
"At least until we are sure this is what we want." I said and he slowly nodded.
"I'm sure this is what I want." Sonic added. "But I understand, we don't want to confuse them."
"This is what I want too. Don't misunderstand, Hedgehog." I kissed his ear making him softly laugh.
"I know. I know." He nuzzled me while he purred. He was happy and so was I. "We should get back to the party. We've been gone for a while. Are you going to tell Rouge?"
"Not for a bit. She thinks I came here to tell you to move on." He was going to get up but I pulled him back down and hugged him. I didn't want to let go but I knew I had to.
We pulled away after a bit, I let Sonic leave first then I went after I made sure no one saw me coming from his room. I made my way into the ballroom just to get tackled down by Shade.
"Dad! Where were you?" I chuckled softly at him and hugged him happily. "Are you okay?"
I can't wait to have my family back.
*Sonic's POV *
After the party was over, the kids were all exhausted and went to bed, they had school the next day so they slept pretty early.
I was about to lay down in my bed when I heard my phone so I picked it up.
Sh: Goodnight, love.
I blushed at seeing his message and smiled while my tail lightly wagged out of happiness. Finally.
S: Goodnight, Shadz. I love you.
Sh: I love you too.
I put my phone down and went to bed. It had been a very long and emotional day.
The kids got ready for school the next day and came to say bye to me before they left. I smiled and said bye to them then went into the bathroom to take a shower. My phone was buzzing and I tried to reach for it but the call was over before I could answer it. Soon enough a message appeared in my phone.
Sh: Chili dogs?
A smile reappeared as I read his message and remembered how well Shadow knew me.
S: Come to my room.
I finished taking a shower and dried myself off then walked out. Shadow was already waiting for me on the couch. I glanced at the door and made sure it was locked then walked towards him and sat beside him. I had left a bit of distance but Shadow pulled me closer and kept an arm around me. Guess he wanted to have me close.
When Shadow and I dated, I realized he was needy but he never asked for the attention. He wasn't the type to ask but show he wanted me close by. He always had an eye on me and made sure I was safe.
"Thank you for the food." I said as I moved a bit closer to him after Shadow passed me the chili dog.
"Of course. Kids are already in school, right?" He asked and I nodded.
"Summer is around the corner." I said as I thought of what we were going to do.
"Sonic?" He asked and I looked at him.
"Yes, Shadz?"
"I don't want to waste anymore time with you." He said and I raised a brow confused. "We should just tell them. I know we said we would wait but I know I don't want to let you go again." He chuckled and I smiled.
"You think it's good for us to tell them? We just started dating yesterday."
"We've been away from each other for half a year already because we were both being stupid. I don't want to be away from you again, I want to be with you, have you close by."
"Would you want us to move in with you?" I asked and he nodded almost immediately.
"We don't have to rush things with us. You can stay in a different room. I just don't want to hide this. I don't have much time with you." His last words hurt me knowing he was right and he knew it. He knew one day I would die and he'd still be here but he still chose to be with me.
"I'm not sure I can leave the castle. I'll have to talk to my mother first. But we can talk either the kids after they get out of school and make sure they're okay with this too." I leaned closer and pecked his lips.
