*Shadow's POV *
"So you know what to do?" I asked them and they nodded. I gave the ring to Lea knowing she was the most responsible of the 3 and went back to cooking.
"What smells so good?" Sonic walked downstairs making me smile. Lea immediately put the ring away before Sonic could see it.
"I am making pancakes. Sit down." I continued cooking then served everyone and sat down to eat with them.
It was comforting how everyone immediately accepted that we were back to being a family again. Having the kids accept our decision and even helping me to propose to Sonic. We ate as we listened to the kids talk and joke around, Sonic and I sharing a glance every once in a while.
"Shad, I need to go pick up something from Tails house. Do you mind meeting me at the clear afterwards with the kids?" Sonic said as he stood up to wash the dishes. "The one where we would take Cream to pick flowers from."
"Sure. I can. What did you need from Tails?" I asked curious.
"I'll tell you soon." He pecked my lips and I nodded then he left.
*Sonic's POV *
"Are you sure about this, Sonic? Isn't this too much?" Tails asked me but I shook my head.
"You can't go back on this." Knuckles warned.
"I know." I said calmly. "I've thought about it long and hard, it's what I want to do." I sat down. "I thought about what Shadow said and thought about the years we lost, I am sure I want to do this. I know I will be losing a lot, and I will be in a lot of pain but at the end of the day, I know I want to be with Shadow and he will always make me happy."
"It's going to be hard." Tails lowered his ears.
"It's not like it's happening any time soon Bud."
"It's going to happen yearly, Sonic. One day we won't be here but you will." Knuckles added and I nodded with a small smile. "We just want to make sure you'll be okay."
"I will be." I hugged them both. "No matter what happens, I won't regret this." They hugged me back.
Tails pulled away after a bit then gave me a small glass bottle, the size of my finger, containing the cure to Shadow's pain. A way to make sure I would always be by his side.
"Thank you." I said as I looked down at it then put it away. I had gotten the idea of doing this years back when Tails told me he had accidentally created this. Back when Shadow and I were barely dating but I decided to wait on it at the time and never told Shadow about it.
I dashed to the clear and waited for Shadow and the kids to show up then looked down at the small box I was now holding. I knew I didn't want to leave Shadow, I knew I wanted to marry him and be his partner for life.
"Sonic." I looked back when I saw Shadow and smiled. Lea had the ring I had picked out for Shadow since the day before.
"Hey Shadz." I walked to him the pecked his lips, I had brought food to the clear and set up a picnic for all of us.
"You set this up?" He smiled as we both sat down and the kids explored the area. "It's nice." He pulled me closer, wrapping both arms around me.
"I wanted us to do something as a family again. Plus, I wanted to ask you something." I said, Lea walked close to us when she heard me and dropped the ring behind me so I can grab it.
"I need to ask you something too." Shadow nuzzled me.
"Can I go first?" I asked and he nodded, still smiling at me. "I was thinking about us, about everything going we've gone through. Our adventures, our fights, our relationship, everything and I realized that I want to be with you for the rest of my life, Shadow." I moved my hand that was holding the ring in front of me to show him the ring. "Will-" I stopped when I realized this wasn't the ring I had given Lea but the ring Shadow had left me years ago. I looked up at Shadow in shock then saw the kids standing behind Shadow while brightly smiling, all of them holding flowers.
My ears dropped immediately and a bright blush appeared in my face as my eyes began to get teary. "W-what...?"
"I love you Sonic. I always will and I was thinking the same thing. I don't want to waste anymore time with you, I want to spend everyday with you and the kids." He pulled out the ring I had picked out, Lea had changed them. Shadow knew that I had wanted to propose to him too. "Will you make me the happiest Hedgehog alive and marry me?"
I couldn't help but cry at this and immediately hugged Shadow. "Yes." I purred loudly and happily then put the ring on as he did the same with the ring I had picked. "Yes. I'll marry you."
Shadow hugged back tightly as the kids cheered and threw the flowers over us. "I love you." We both said excitedly.
(1 month later)
"I do." Shadow said as he put the ring on my finger.
"I pronounce you, partners for life."
With that said, Shadow and I kissed each other as everyone else cheered for us. We pulled away soon enough and walked down the aisle together.
"I have a gift for you. If you accept it." I said to Shadow as we sat down at our table at the after party. We were both alone as everyone else celebrated.
"A gift?" Shadow asked confused. "What do you mean if I accept?"
I pulled the small glass bottle from my suit pocket where I had been holding onto for the entire day. I showed it to Shadow and handed it to him as he examined it looking at it clearly confused.
"If I drink this. You will never have to worry about losing me." I said making Shadow's eyes go wide realizing what that meant. He looked at me shocked.
"What?" He asked and I nodded knowing he heard me correctly. "You can't possibly..."
"I will. If you're sure you can stand me forever." I laughed softly.
"You're crazy." Shadow laughed at that and nodded. "I can." He added. "But you realize what it means, right?"
"I do. I've known about this for over a decade, Shad. I've had time to think about it and I'm okay with it if it means staying with you." I smiled at him, reassuring him about this. "But Tails said I will be very weak for the first weak while my body adjusts to this so I'll drink it after the party. If you're okay with it."
Shadow seemed hesitant but saw that I wasn't lying and he nodded then kissed me, long and hard, showing me just how much he loved me in that one kiss. He slowly pulled away after we heard people cheering at us and we laughed together.
"I love you." Shadow said. "I can't wait to see what the future brings for us."
"I love you more." I answered and held his hand, intertwining our fingers then looked at everyone around us and our kids dancing and messing around. "Me either."
