THE PAST TEN years of my life felt like a fever dream. I had everything I wanted. Clean clothes, delicious food, a loving mother and amazing siblings, who I thought of as my own.

Never once did I ever think that we were food.

Cattle.

Pawns in a game.

I felt so tiny. So stupid.

For a long while, I wished that things were normal. I wish that I could go to bed and not have to worry about what the next day would bring me.

But unfortunately, my dreams are just dreams.

The woman I live with is not my mom.

The children I live with are not my siblings.

There's something deeper, something way darker than anybody ever imagined about this place.

Grace Field House, full of surprises.

six years ago . . .

IT WAS THE night of Harry's adoption, I smiled at him, helping him get ready. He was just a bit younger than me, maybe by around a year, but I always felt like I had the duty to protect anybody younger than me, no matter what.

Harry smiled gently at the girl who straightened his tie for him, "Thank you, Stori."

Astoria gave him a gentle smile in return.

Little did I know that he wasn't going to even be alive in an hour.

Harry wrapped his arms around his sister with a sigh, "I'm going to miss you so much." He told her in a quiet whisper.

"I'm gonna miss you too, Harry, but think of the bright side. You finally get to see the outside of this place! And you'll go to an even more loving family." Astoria exclaimed with a big smile.

If only that was the truth.

Soon enough, Isabella's voice filled the house from downstairs, "Harry, it's time to go." She called.

He gave Astoria a smile, "I'll see you soon!" He said before making his way out of the room.

Astoria followed him down the stairs, where he said his goodbyes to all of his siblings. However, she noticed that a certain ravenhead kept his eyes on the ground, she thought it was suspicious but she wasn't sure how to bring it up with him so she just ignored it.

Once the door shut and Harry was gone, Astoria and the others began to clean up around the house and make it nice for when Isabella came back.

As she began cleaning up in the kitchen, she noticed something out of the corner of her eye, her head instantly shooted to the item.

She realized it was Harry's favourite stuffed teddy bear. She wasn't stupid. She saw it in his hands before he left, she knew that someone must've taken it off of him, but who?

She sighed as she picked it up and made her way to the back door.

Some part of me was begging me to give it to him. But I, from the bottom of my heart, wish that I hadn't listened.

Astoria made her way to the gate and raised her eyebrow as she saw a vacant truck, just there. It looked abandoned. It was brown, the same color curtains were covering the back on the truck but what really captured Astoria's attention was the limp hand that was resting on the edge.

The color of it was almost blue, as if it had been there for a few hours, she knew it wasn't possible though. It looked cold, drained of blood, the color of what it used to be no longer there. The veins were also disgustingly popping out, making it evident that the person it belonged to was way past dead.

Astoria already knew who it belonged to, but she just had to see. She slowly inched towards the truck, her heart in her throat.

As she pulled the curtain to one side, her face went pale and she felt instantly sick.

It was Harry. He was lay there with a vida flower sticking out of his chest that seemed to have already bloomed. His eyes were wide open as if he was still alive. He looked terrified. Astoria's first instincts were to run. Run as far away as possible, but she couldn't.

Time felt like it was moving in slow motion. It felt like the world had stopped. The once vibrant person that absolutely adored his life and everyone in it was gone in the blink of what felt like an eye.

But then her adrenaline kicked in and she ran for it. She took the teddy with her so that she wasn't discovered by whatever had hurt her little brother.

She ran back to the house. Had she of known a way out of that place, she would've took her siblings and ran before isabella came back, but she knew that wasn't possible.

She finally got back into the house and placed the teddy bear back on the table and went to her room, not wanting to talk to anybody for the rest of the night.

Her best friend, Emma, had tried to talk to her to see if she was alright but Astoria didn't want to frighten her, so she kept it to herself and said that harry had already gone so she would get mom to deliver it later.

Ray knew what Astoria had seen, and his plan was working for the most part, so he finally spoke to her about it and over the next six years, they began to devise a plan to get out of the house with everyone safely.

But they really hated each other. everytime they were around each other, they argued. It was a force of habit, Vut astoria didn't mind it.

He was a nice distraction for her.

Insulting him really made her day.
