The Search for Voyd

Chapter 22

The shadowy woman just stood there frozen. She looked like she had nowhere to go. Avia had curiosity inside her. She cautiously walked towards the woman, however, the shadowy figure backed away in fear. Avia was confused until she saw the hazel eye widening. That's when she realized that it was looking at her scar. She immediately covered it up with her paw, but saw that the eye was still widened. It looked like the eye wanted Avia to uncover herself. The cat felt uncomfortable doing this, but she uncovered it anyway. The shadowy woman walked quietly close to Avia. The cat backed up a little bit. As Avia was going back out in the light, the shadowy woman started to reveal colors. Instead of looking like a mysterious figure, she looked like a superhero. Her hair was turquoise blue, her eyes were hazel, she had magenta lips, and her super suit was green and blue. Her hair looked like it was covering up half of her face. She had dark green leggings. Her dark blue mask matched her gloves and boots. On her chest was the letter "V". On it was a green oval. She didn't have a cape, but she was still a super. Avia's eyes looked like they were about to bulge out of her head. She felt the air in her sinuses as she let out a gasp. Her heart started beating rapidly, almost to the point where it felt like exploding. She stood there without saying one word. She began wondering. Is this really her or is it someone cosplaying? Suddenly, the super sneezed, causing a portal to appear. Avia felt a hairball coming up her esophagus. She immediately swallowed it again as she looked stunned. The super immediately closed the portal back up. It was her! Avia started breathing rapidly. This caused the super to back away. Avia immediately stopped as she noticed the nervous behavior. The cat wanted to say something, but she began wondering. 'Is she really going to understand me?' Avia thought. 'I'm a cat and she's a human. There's no way. I don't even know if that's possible. Well, it's best to give it a try.' So, Avia walked up to the super, who began curling up in fear. The cat said, "Voyd." The super looked at Avia and uncurled herself as if the cat talked to her. This shocked Avia. Did she really respond to her? Did she really understand her? Avia tried it again. "Voyd." She said. The super responded to the cat with no words as if she called her name. She quietly walks closer to Avia. "Voyd." Avia said again. The super smiled. Avia smiled back. The super actually CAN understand her. "Hi, Voyd." Avia said to the super, whose name is Voyd. "H...h...hiiiii..." Voyd replied nervously and quietly. Avia silently chuckled and began to introduce herself. "My name is Avia." The cat said. "Can you say that? Can you say my name? Avia?" "Avia." Voyd replied. Avia smiled. "I...I can't believe this." Avia said to herself. "I found her.....I actually found her! This is awesome! Wait until I tell my friends about this! Wait until I tell my family about this! Wait until I tell everyone about this!" Avia looked at Voyd again and said, "I've come all this way just to find you! Nobody in my hometown believes you exist! But now that you're here, this is perfect!" Voyd slowly backed away, looking very nervous. "Oh no, you don't have to be nervous. Come here." Avia said calmly and sweetly. "Come on." Avia signaled Voyd to come closer. The super responded as she looked around her. Just as Voyd was walking slowly towards Avia, the cat noticed something on her. Around Voyd's neck was a collar. On it was a flashing red light, which made the beeping sound. Above it was a tiny camera. Avia didn't even know what it was for. She didn't even know why it's on Voyd. Why is there a collar around Voyd? What is it doing there in the first place? Avia stared at it in curiosity. This caused Voyd to be more timid. Avia looked at her and was confused. Why is she so nervous? What's making her feel uncomfortable? This was really confusing for sure. Avia was happy to find Voyd, but she wasn't expecting something like this. Suddenly, a rumble was heard. Avia looked up at and around the sky to see if thunder was nearby. The sky looked pretty clear. Avia looked back at Voyd and realized that she was clutching her stomach in embarrassment. "Oh, you must be hungry." Avia said. "I think I might have something for you." Avia went and grabbed the sushi box. "Do you happen to like sushi?" She asked. Voyd looked at the box. She grabbed it and started eating the sushi out of the box. Voyd opened her eyes in a wide expression. Avia looked worried because she thought that Voyd didn't like it. But instead, Voyd looked at Avia and asked, "How did you know I love sushi? Aren't you such a sweet and understandable cat! Thank you so much!" Voyd hugged Avia in affection. The cat felt her heart melt as she closed her eyes in relaxation and purred. Meanwhile, a woman was watching everything from the camera on Voyd's collar. She did not look very pleased by the scene. "What on earth is she doing out there?!" The woman asked bitterly to herself. "This is SO not what I had in mind!" Suddenly, the woman saw Avia's face and immediately yelped out in disgust at the cat's scar. "Oh, that's disgusting!" The woman said in disgust and hatred. "How hideous! What on earth is wrong with her?! That super just hugged a cat that looks like it's full of diseases! That's sickening!" Outside, Voyd let go of Avia, who looked like she was lost in her own world. The cat immediately collected herself back together and said, "Hey, since you're here, I can take a picture of you so I can show everybody in my hometown that you are real! Just give me a second." Avia grabbed her camera and tried to find the right button to start it. Voyd silently gasped in fear as she saw the camera in Avia's paws. "Now, how did Donatello work this thing again? Hmmmm." Avia said to herself while looking for the right button. "I think this is it right here." Avia pressed the button that had the circle printed on it. The camera turned on. "Aha! There we go!" Avia said. "Now to find that picture button. Ah! There it is!" Avia put her paw finger on the button that had the camera printed on it. Voyd started to pant in a fast pace. Avia held the camera directly towards Voyd and said, "Okay, now hold still and give me a big smi..." Suddenly, Voyd opened a portal below her and dived in. "Huh?" Avia said in confusion. A portal opens up behind Avia. Voyd's hand comes out and taps Avia's shoulder. The cat turned around as the portal behind her disappeared. Another portal opens up in front of her and Voyd takes the camera out of Avia's paws. The cat sees that her paws are now empty as the portal disappears. "Hey!" Avia yelled out. Voyd jumps out of another portal behind Avia, who turns around and sees the super holding her camera. "Give that back!" Avia called out. "I need it!" Voyd held the camera as she started jumping through a series of portals. "Hey, come back here!" Avia yelled out as she started chasing Voyd. Voyd jumped and jumped through many portals around the city as Avia was chasing her and calling her to give back the camera. "It's not funny! Give it back!" Avia yelled. "Stop! Wait! Hey! Are you listening to me?! Come back!" The chase continued around the whole city and Voyd didn't stop. Meanwhile, Donatello was looking through the glass in a shop, trying to find any evidence of Voyd. "Hmmm. Nothing here." He said. "I should probably look at the gas sta..." Donatello's sentence was cut off by seeing portals in the reflection. Voyd was jumping through them. Avia continued chasing her. Donatello immediately turned around and saw the whole thing. "Kid!" He exclaimed. Donatello started chasing where Avia and Voyd were going. It continued as minutes flew by. Back at the museum, Kathleen just sat there in amazement by the dinosaur skeleton from the inside. "Do they really have only two fingers?" She asked herself. "I wonder if Avia knows. Maybe if we're reunited with each other, I should probably ask her or some..." Kathleen's sentence was cut off by Avia's voice. Kathleen looked where it was coming from and that's when she saw portals appearing in front of her with Voyd jumping through them. As the super was getting closer to the bird, both Kathleen and Voyd screamed. They slam into each other, but that didn't stop Voyd. They both looked at each other and screamed again. Kathleen's eyes widened as she said, "Wait a minute. Are you..." "No!" Voyd shouted as she threw Kathleen to Avia. "Kathleen!" Avia exclaimed. "Avia?" Kathleen asked. "On my back!" Avia said. Kathleen tries to reach Avia's back until Avia trips on a pebble, causing the blue jay to lose her balance and fall on the ground. Avia continues chasing Voyd as Donatello chases her while Kathleen is on the ground. The bird realizes Donatello and the others getting away. "Hey! Wait for me!" Kathleen yelled as she chased them. Meanwhile, Harrion and Carlos were at the gas station looking at an old newspaper with a superhero on it. Carlos was trying to get the colors right on his skin. "Is it these colors?" He asked as he turned black and white. "You're kidding me, right?" Harrion asked. "You just turned into colors from the newspaper." "That's the only photo I could find," Carlos said. "What do you expect?" Suddenly, a glow was seen, distracting the chameleon and maned cat. "What was that?" Carlos asked. "Let's go check it out!" Harrion said. The duo goes where the glow was coming from and that's when they saw Voyd jumping through portals. The animals were shocked. "Who was that?! Was that Voyd?!" Carlos asked. "And wait a minute. Is that Avia?" Harrion asked as he saw Avia chasing Voyd. "And who are those guys?!" Carlos asked as he saw Donatello and Kathleen following Avia. "Let's follow them!" Harrion said. The duo joins the other animals. Meanwhile, Voyd was frantically jumping through portals, trying to escape Avia. The cat was still urging her to come back with the camera. Voyd didn't listen. Instead, she kept jumping through the portals like a fish. That's when Avia started crouching. She then leaped in the air and stopped Voyd. The super and cat tumble on the ground. They see the camera and begin fighting with it. "Give....it.....back!" Avia grunted as she tried to yank the camera out of Voyd's hands. The super refused to let go. "Come on.....give it!" Avia grunted. They both start tugging. Due to their fighting, they accidentally touch the picture button, causing flashes to appear over and over again. Then, a flash blinded Avia and Voyd, causing them to lose their grip on the camera and drop it. While Voyd was covering her eyes in pain and trying to regain her vision, Avia fixed her eyes immediately and grabbed the camera. "Alright! This starts now!" Avia said. She started to point the camera towards Voyd until she said, "Wait a minute! Then again, others will think I just photoshopped it. Hmmm. Oh! I got it!" Avia hugged Voyd, who was now recovering from the flash. Avia lifted up the camera in front of her and Voyd and said, "Smile!" Voyd notices Avia about to take a selfie. "No!" Voyd shouted. However, it was too late. Before the super was able to grab the camera, Avia took the picture and the screen showed her and Voyd together. Meanwhile, the woman, who was watching through Voyd's collar, was in complete shock when she saw that Avia had taken a picture of her and Voyd together. "Oh, that little blue haired freak!" She yelled. "She is SO going to get it from me when I catch her!" The woman grabs a walkie talkie and says, "Guards! Go and grab that super! And bring in the shepherds!" An army started going into helicopters as one of them bought aggressive barking German shepherds along. They start flying to where Voyd was. Meanwhile, Voyd was nervous while Avia said, "Oh, that's perfect! Wait until I show the others that I found you!" "Delete that!" Voyd commanded. "Why?" Avia asked in confusion. "Are you camera shy?" "Just delete it!" Voyd pleaded. Just then, Donatello, Kathleen, Harrion, and Carlos reach Avia. "Kid!" Donatello yelled out. "Donatello! Kathleen! Harrion! Carlos!" Avia said. "You guys! Thank goodness you're here! Look! I found Voyd! I even got the picture!" "Oh, kid that's great!" Donatello said. The dog looks at Voyd and says, "Oh, my puppy hood has come back to me..." "So, this is Voyd?" Kathleen asked in amazement. "Yes." Avia answered. "Kathleen, Harrion, and Carlos, this is Voyd. Voyd, this is Kathleen, Harrion, and Carlos." "So, that's what she looks like!" Carlos said. "Oh, isn't she beautiful!" Harrion said. "She looks like the earth as a babe!" Voyd blushed in embarrassment. "All of you animals are so cute!" Voyd said. "I've never actually been surrounded by a group of animals before. This is special." Avia smiled. "Come on." The cat said. "I don't know what you're doing here alone in this gigantic city, but I do know that you don't belong here. So come on." Voyd started following the animals. Meanwhile, the woman was noticing this. "Oh, I don't think so, sweetie." She said as she pushed a button. Outside, the collar shocks Voyd. This causes her to collapse on the ground. The animals notice this. "Voyd!" Avia exclaimed as she ran to Voyd. "Are you okay?!" Voyd groaned. She gets back up and tries to follow the animals, but the collar shocks her again. Voyd groaned in pain. "What's wrong with Voyd?" Kathleen asked. Avia looks at Voyd and notices her grabbing her neck. "I think this collar is shocking her, making her unable to follow us." Avia said. "Well we gotta get this thing off of her." Carlos said. "But how?" Harrion asked. "I'll do it with my teeth." Donatello said. "Donatello, no!" Avia said. "It's a shock collar! If you try to yank it, it'll shock you too!" "How do you think I got this burn on my neck?" Donatello said as he showed a dark burn on his neck. "It was best for me and my owner to have an electric fence due to city limits and criminals trying to enter our house. If it weren't for the squirrels though, I wouldn't have this burn. But I do. If I can handle an electric fence, then I can handle a shock collar too." Donatello walks to Voyd and tells her to be still. The dog bites down on the collar and tries to snap it, but nothing happens. No matter how hard Donatello bit down, the collar wouldn't break. "It's too strong! It won't snap!" Donatello said. "Well that's great!" Kathleen said. "Now how are we going to get it off of her now?!" "Wait! There's something on the back of her collar!" Avia said. The cat looks closely at the back of the collar and notices a keyhole. "Hey, Donatello! I found the keyhole!" She said. Donatello walks to the back of Voyd. He tried to put his claw in it, but it was too small. "It's too small." Donatello said. "Let me try." Avia said. She tries to put her claw in, but it wouldn't fit. "My claw's too big." Avia said. "Kathleen, use your toe claw." Kathleen put her toe in the keyhole, but the keyhole was a little bit bigger. "No luck." Kathleen said. "Harrion?" Avia asked. Harrion tries to put his claw in, but like Avia's claw, it was too big. "Nope." He said. "Carlos?" Avia asked. "Sorry. Just two fingers." Carlos answered. "Well, are there any keys around this area?" Avia asked. "Let's look." Harrion said. The animals started looking everywhere for a key that would unlock Voyd's collar, but there was no sign. "There's gotta be one around here!" Avia said. "There's nothing here!" Kathleen yelled. While the rest of the animals were looking around, Donatello looks at the back of the collar and sees something that got his attention. "Hey, kid. Take a look at this." He said to Avia. The cat comes up to Donatello and asks "What is it?" "Look." Donatello said, pointing at the back of the collar below the keyhole. Avia looks at it and that's what made her curious. It was writing. It read,
