Chapter 25

It was morning. The bright sun outside caused lighting inside the bedroom. Voyd and Avia woke up. They went into the kitchen to grab some breakfast. While Voyd continued eating her breakfast, Avia already finished hers since she now enjoys wet food and went outside to find Ramona. She begins walking around the mansion to find her when she suddenly bumps into Harrion. "Oh! Harrion!" Avia said while blushing. "I wasn't expecting to see you here." "Sorry, Avia." Harrion apologized. "It's just that I didn't get to see you yesterday morning, so I'd thought I'd make it up to you by seeing you." "Oh yeah, right." Avia said. "I am so sorry about that. You see, I was watching over Voyd after her incident back at New Urbem. So, it's actually my fault that I didn't get to see you yesterday morning because I wanted to be sure that Voyd was safe and secure." "Oh no, it's fine, Avia. I understand." Harrion said. "You don't need to feel guilty." "Oh okay." Avia said. "So, what are you doing walking around Edna's mansion?" Harrion asked. "Oh, well you see," Avia started. "I'm looking for Ramona. She's a rabbit I met last night, who said that she can help me help Voyd find her inner confidence by taking me to the Metroville Zoo and meeting Diesel the tiger." "Oh, nice." Harrion said. "But aren't tigers predators to humans?" "Ramona told me that he's very well behaved." Avia answered. "So, Voyd will be fine. Besides, I heard that he knows about her very well. So, there's no way he'll try to eat her." "Okay." Harrion said. "Are you taking Voyd there to find her confidence after what happened yesterday?" "Yeah, because she was too scared to fight off the army that tried to kidnap her." Avia answered. "Also, how did you know it was because of that?" "I saw her looking guilty after Lucille's shot. I knew she was going to blame herself for that." "Oh." Avia said. "How is Lucille?" "She's doing fine. She just needs to rest her flank for a few days until she's able to stand on her hooves again." Harrion replied. "Got it." Avia said. "Well, I'm glad she's doing okay. That was really scary. She could've been killed." "I know." Harrion said. "But I think she did it for you guys. If she didn't, it could've been Voyd. Or worse...you." "You do make a good point." Avia said. "Okay, well, I'll let you find Ramona. See you later." Harrion said. "Yeah. See you." Avia said. Harrion walked off while Avia continued looking for Ramona. She looked everywhere around the mansion. She looked and looked, but couldn't find the rabbit. Then, Avia remembered something. She remembered Ramona saying that she was here at seven o' clock because of carrots that Edna had grown in her garden. That's when Avia went straight into Edna's garden, and to her luck, she was right. She saw Ramona eating a carrot on the ground at a fast pace. "Hi, Ramona." Avia said. Ramona looked up and said, "Oh, hi, Avia. Anything I can help you with?" "Well, I just wanna say that I'm ready to go to the Metroville Zoo." "Oh okay." Ramona said. "Well, I'll meet you at the door once I finish this carrot. Oh, and make sure you bring Voyd along as well." " Got it. I'll make sure to do that." Avia said. So, the cat went back inside Edna's mansion and met with Voyd, who still looked a bit down after the incident yesterday. Avia felt bad for her. The cat rubbed against Voyd's right leg, making the super have her attention towards Avia. "Huh? Oh, hi, Avia." Voyd said. "Do you need something?" Avia began walking while Voyd followed her. They go to the door and wait. A few minutes later, Ramona comes. "Awww, a bunny!" Voyd exclaimed. "How cute!" Ramona smiled at the sight of Voyd. Her ears drooped in affection. She notices the cast on Voyd's left leg. Ramona looked at Avia, who nodded in pity. "Voyd, I want you to meet Ramona." Avia said. "She is going to take us to the Metroville Zoo to help you find your confidence." "Wh...why the zoo?" Voyd asked, a little bit nervous. "Because there's a mentor who knows a lot about you and can help you." Avia said. "His name is Diesel. He's going to help you find your inner confidence and take everything nice and slow for you since your leg is still injured." "Oh, well.... I don't know about this, Avia." Voyd said. "It'll be fine, Voyd." Avia said. "This is to help you feel a little bit more brave the next time there's trouble in the world." "But what if I fail?" Voyd asked. "You just keep on trying." Avia answered. "If you keep on trying, you will do better. That's what my parents always tell me whenever I feel like giving up. Keep on trying and you will eventually get the hang of it. So that's what I'm now saying to you. Keep on trying." Voyd began thinking about this. Was she willing to accept this? She is brave when it comes to fighting. She just needs more confidence in herself and to help her see the hero inside her. But this was risky. Because after the incident in New Urbem and her troubled past, she wasn't sure if she was ready to conquer her fear and take down villains. But if she keeps trying, she will eventually get better at saving the world. Finally, Voyd said, "Okay. Let's do this." "Alright." Avia said. "Now go and tell Edna where we're going. After you do that, we'll say farewell to our friends and head on down to the Metroville Zoo." So, Voyd went inside the mansion and told Edna about where she, Avia, and Ramona were going while Avia told her friends the same thing. Donatello and Lucille wished her luck. Kathleen gave Avia a friendly goodbye hug. Harrion and Avia nudge each other. The others said their farewells. After saying their goodbyes, Avia and Voyd followed Ramona to where the Metroville Zoo was. Due to them walking, it was taking them a long time. They even had to slow down for Voyd to go easy on her leg. There were even times where they had to stop and rest. It was a very long walk. They finally reached the Metroville Zoo, which appeared to be closed. "Alright, we're here and it's closed." Ramona said. "So this is the perfect opportunity to meet with him. Now come on." "Wait." Voyd said. "Are you saying we should break in? But that's illegal. What if we get caught and get in trouble? I'll end up going to prison while you guys go to the pound. I don't wanna commit a crime and end up in jail for years..." Voyd began shaking in fear. "She does have a point, Ramona." Avia said. "If we break in, we'll be dead meat. So, are there any options?" Ramona began thinking. She immediately sees cameras everywhere. Ramona says, "Avia, climb in those trees and shut down the cameras by knocking them to the ground. They're everywhere around the zoo. Before you do that, I'm gonna go inside by digging holes. After I do that, I'm gonna scratch the security office door and distract the guard. Once I'm done with him, I'll give you the signal and you're going to destroy those cameras. Just watch me." "Uhh, Ramona. I'm still not so sure about this." Avia said. "It's still illegal." "Avia, we're animals." Ramona said. "There's no way we're gonna get caught. Besides, Voyd is just gonna stand there, looking all innocent. She'll be fine. Now let's do this." Ramona began digging a hole and went inside. She makes another hole inside the zoo and hops out of it. She goes to the security office and scratches the door a few minutes later. Inside, the guard hears the scratching and opens the door. "Oh, hi there, cutie." He said, crouching down. "What are you doing out here? Are you lost? Do you need my help in finding where you belong? Ramona suddenly lets out a huge gas, causing the guard to faint. Ramona signals Avia. The cat starts climbing in the trees. She knocks over the cameras, causing them to break. She does the same thing around the zoo. Voyd watched in discomfort. After Avia was done destroying the cameras, she went back to the entrance and met Ramona. "Alright, now get inside and do the same thing." The rabbit said. "There are cameras in here too." Avia went inside Ramona's hole and went to destroy all of the cameras inside the zoo without getting caught. After she destroyed all of them, she goes back to Ramona and says, "Alright. I think that was the last of them. Even the bathroom ones are destroyed." "Great." Ramona said. "Now get Voyd in here." "Alright, Voyd." Avia said to the super. "It's okay. Use your portal to come inside." Voyd still looked nervous. Even though Avia and Ramona did everything for her to get inside the zoo, she still looked hesitant. "I can't..." She said. "We'll still get caught." "It's gonna be alright, Voyd." Ramona said. "We already took care of everything. So there's no way we're gonna get caught." "But the police might still find out." Voyd said. "What if they try to call the guard?" "Well, I'll make sure that doesn't happen." Ramona said. "I'm going to disconnect the phones here and at the police station." "Do you even know where the Metroville police station is at?" Avia asked. "Yes." Ramona answered. "I happen to live in the bushes near it and I know where it is. So, it shouldn't be too hard." "Oh okay." Avia said. "Come on, Voyd. It's alright." Voyd still looked nervous, but she did what Avia said. She opened a portal and went inside the zoo. "Alright." Ramona said. "Now that we're inside, let's take you to Diesel. I know where he is. You'll like him. He's really nice." "Ramona, how did you take down that guard?" Avia asked. "Let's just say that carrots make me gassy." Ramona answered. "Ohhh..." Avia said. Voyd had a disgusted look on her face. "The smell is so powerful, it can pass people out. But temporarily." Ramona said. "So, right now, let's get going, because the unconscious guard won't last like this forever." So, Voyd and Avia followed Ramona inside the zoo. They reach a den. Inside was a leopard licking her paw. "Hey, Cheryl!" Ramona called out to the leopard. "We got company here! They're here to see Diesel." "Who are they?" Cheryl asked. "One's a cat named Avia." Ramona said. "The other is a super." "And who is the super with the cat?" Cheryl asked. "Voyd." Ramona said. Cheryl paused her cleaning and took a look at Voyd. Her eyes widened. "V....Voyd?!" She exclaimed. "Yes. This is Voyd. The ACTUAL Voyd." Ramona said. "You see, Avia found her in New Urbem and she got hurt. She was also being hunted down by an army. Voyd couldn't fight them because she was too scared. So that's why they're here for Diesel. To help her find her confidence." "Alright. Follow me." Cheryl said. Avia and Ramona went inside the den. They notice Voyd still outside. "Come on, Voyd." Avia said. "It's time to see Diesel." "I don't know...." Voyd said shyly. "I'm too nervous about this...." "It's gonna be alright, Voyd." Avia said. "He's going to help you. Trust us. So please, come on." Voyd still looked nervous. She made quiet whimpers. She then goes inside the den. "Alright. Now let's go." Avia said. Voyd, Avia, and Ramona follow Cheryl inside. They go inside a wilderness. Voyd started to feel scared. Avia went beside her for comfort. They reach a cave. "Alright. He should be in there." Cheryl said. "Diesel! We got visitors who want to see you!" "Coming!" A voice shouted. It startled Voyd a little. "Stay right here. He should be coming." Cheryl said. They waited for Diesel to come patiently. They suddenly see green eyes in the cave. This scared Voyd. She started shaking more and more as the eyes were getting closer. Out of the cave came a giant, orange tiger. He looked very strong and wise. Avia was amazed. However, Voyd just stared at the tiger, who smiled at her. The super began breathing at a rapid pace. She was about to scream until Avia stopped her by hopping on her shoulder and covering her mouth with her tail since she didn't want them to get caught. Voyd was about to open up her portals until Avia grabbed her hands. The super began struggling in desperation until she gave up and curled on the ground saying, "Please don't eat me." while shaking. The tiger's eyes widened by the sight of the super. "You must be Voyd." The tiger said. "I happen to know a lot about you. The name's Diesel." Voyd immediately became shocked. She looked at Avia and said, "Avia! You said that Diesel is a mentor! You didn't tell me he was a TIGER!!!" "Well," Avia started. "I...I'm sorry, Voyd. You see, he's here to help you bring up your confidence." "Bring up my confidence?!" Voyd exclaimed. "More like EAT my confidence! He probably already smells the flesh on me! I bet his mouth is drooling right now as I speak to you!" "What?" Diesel asked. "Now that's crazy." "It's true." Voyd said. "You're staring at me in starvation with those nightmare eyes!" "Voyd," Avia said. "He's not going to eat you! He's here to help you regain your confidence. Ramona told me." "Yeah, besides, I wouldn't want to eat you anyway." Diesel said. "You've been my favorite super ever since I was a cub." "What favorite do you even mean?" Voyd asked. "By affection and as a hero. Not by food." Diesel said. "The reason why I adore you is because you have that symbol on your suit that looks just like my mark on my forehead." Avia looked and saw the letter "V" on Diesel's forehead. "Wow!" Avia said. Voyd looked at the mark as well. She calmed down a little bit, but was still nervous. "It's okay, Voyd. You don't need to be scared." Ramona said. Voyd looked at Diesel, who smiled at her. Not by hunger, but by affection. Voyd began breathing calmly. "See? It's all good." Avia said. "You know," Diesel said. "I'd be happy to introduce my friends to you guys. They're at the other side of the den. Come with me." Avia and Voyd followed Diesel while Ramona said, "You guys go ahead. I'm gonna look after the guard and take care of the phones here and at the station!" Diesel, Avia, and Voyd reach to the other side of the den. They saw that it looked like a land. Trees were everywhere. In the middle was a desert with arches everywhere. Despite it being a desert though, there were water puddles, a river, and a water fountain. There was a small ravine far out. Flowers were near the trees. Around the desert we're edges and cliffs. The sun shined brightly on the landscape. Avia and Voyd stared in awe. "Yep. This is my landscape." Diesel said. "I usually go out here to hang out with my friends, rest, and do all sorts of activities. Like running, fighting, and pouncing!" "Wow! You have such a pretty home!" Avia said. "I wish my owner was rich enough to own a landscape just like this one." "Yeah, being a zookeeper does take a lot of money." Diesel said. "It's just the way how life goes. Now come on, let me introduce you all to my friends." Voyd and Avia continued following Diesel. They go into a deep wilderness. In the very back were sticks that had heads that are shaped like a V. It turned out that Diesel does know about Voyd. "They should be here." Diesel said. "Orina! Tasmo! We got guests I want you to meet!" Suddenly, an oryx and a Tasmanian devil come out. "What is it and who are they?" asked the Tasmanian devil in a strong accent. "Tasmo. We would like you to meet Avia. And this is Voyd." "Wait. You mean the Voyd we know of?!" The oryx asked. "Yes, Orina." Diesel said. "This is her. Voyd, Avia, I want you to meet Orina and Tasmo." "It's like a dream come true!" Orina said. "I never knew this day would come!" Tasmo said. "But. It happened! We heard about what happened to her for months and we are so glad you brought her back to us!" "Really?" Avia asked. "You knew about what happened?" "Yep." Orina answered. "We heard about it when a four year old kid threw the newspaper in our den. We were devastated, but now, we are so happy to have her again!" Avia smiled. "What are they talking about?" Voyd asked. "We know everything about you ever since the beginning of our life." Diesel said. "We heard about you and we know everything about you. From your past and now. We are the Voyd Experts." "You can also tell very easily." Orina said. "Yeah," Tasmo joined in. "Take me for example. I have a V on my chest. Orina's horns are in the shape of a V. Diesel has a V shaped mark on his forehead." "I think they already know about that Tasmo." Diesel said. "So, what brings you guys here to us?" Orina asked. "Well, you see," Avia said. "I found Voyd in New Urbem and she got hurt as you can see her leg right here." Orina gasped. "Oh, the poor thing...."  She said. "We were also hunted down by an army that tried to catch Voyd as well." Avia added. "Even some nasty German shepherds tried to attack her." Orina became shocked. "German shepherds?!" Tasmo asked in anger. "Those mutts know better than to mess with our super like that!" "An army trying to kidnap her?" Orina asked. "Yeah." Avia answered. "And since she's a superhero, it was a perfect opportunity for her to stop them, but she was too scared and hesitant to do it. So that's why we're here. To help find her confidence. Do you think you could help us?" "Mmmmmm. I see your problem there." Diesel said very seriously. "Well, since we're experts here and know everything about gaining confidence, we are willing to help you. But, this is Voyd here. So, it's going to take some time for her to be prepared since she is starting to get used to things. This also means we have to take everything slowly by doing one thing at a time. We also don't want to give in too much pressure. After all, she still has an injured leg. But we are willing to accept this." "Oh, thank you so much, Diesel." Avia said. "It's a pleasure." Diesel said. "Did you hear that, Voyd?" Avia asked the super. "Diesel and his friends are going to help you find your inner confidence. They're even going to do this slowly. Doesn't that sound exciting?" Voyd only answered in a nervous whimper. "Come on," Diesel said. "We'll begin by showing you guys on how to be brave and have faith in yourself. Follow us." Avia and Voyd followed Diesel, Orina, and Tasmo out of the wilderness and into the landscape. This was going to be challenging for Voyd, but Avia knows that she can conquer this by taking it one step at a time. Meanwhile, at the entrance of the zoo, Ramona came back with a carrot and began eating it. After she ate half of it, she saw that the guard was about to regain consciousness until Ramona stopped him by passing gas again. Ramona then realizes the phones connecting from the police station. If the police calls and doesn't hear the guard, they'll come and see all of the damage. They might even try to take Voyd and Avia away. So Ramona went in holes and hopped to where the police station was. She hops very quickly in the city and sees the station. She hides in the bushes. When a cop opened the door, Ramona quietly went inside and tried to look for phones. She goes into every room and disconnects the phones, making them impossible for them to reach the zoo. After she was done, she went back outside and to the zoo. She continued watching the guard while still holding the half bitten carrot. Back in the landscape in the den, Diesel, Orina, and Tasmo were showing Avia and Voyd they're spot where they do brave activities. "This is the place that helps you get stronger everyday and help you find your confidence." Diesel said. "I always practice here to keep my strength in balance and to defeat any foes that get in my way. When I was a cub, I thought I could never do those things, but my father helped me by practicing every stunt in this area before his soul went into the clouds of eternity. Now, I'm able to do everything just by having faith in myself. And that's what I'm going to do with you now. Help you find your confidence by practicing through faith, because just like what Philippians said in the Bible:'I can do everything in Christ, who strengthens me.' And that's what I did. Practice by putting my faith in Christ. And that's what you're going to do as well. Put your faith in Jesus. We'll even help you by showing you our stunts and how we conquer our fears. Orina, you take the right. Tasmo, you take the left. I'll take the middle. Now watch and learn." The three experts scattered in their spots to prepare their stunts and fights. Avia and Voyd watched as they were getting prepared. After a few seconds, the experts made their way down the hills and began doing stunts and fights. Avia and Voyd watched very carefully. Diesel leaped and scratched up dummies of predators while growling and roaring. Orina head butted the dummies with her long horns. Tasmo shrieked and nawed on the dummies while releasing his known odor. The animals began running around and jumping through every obstacle. Even jumping on them like parkour. It was like an outside gym that you can practice everyday in the sun until all of the water inside you pours out of your flesh. The thing nice though was that there was water in the landscape that way you won't have to worry about dehydration or a heatstroke. After doing the activities, they went to the water fountain to cool off and drink. They came back to Avia in Voyd, who were in amazement. "Wow! That was awesome!" Avia said. "Yep." Diesel said. "And it was all by putting our faith in ourselves and our Heavenly Father from above." The tiger looked at Voyd and said, "Now it's your turn, only this time, we're gonna take this nice, easy, and slow for you. No pressure. Just a simple task. Follow us." Avia and Voyd followed the experts in a shade. There were dummies that looked like evil predators. Voyd started to feel nervous about this, but she tried to impress the others by being brave and accepting the practice. "Alright, Voyd." Diesel said. "You are going to pretend that you've ran into these enemies right here. They are about to fight you. Since you're a super, what would you do about this?" Voyd looked at the dummy. Along with her crutches, she tried doing a defensive pose. She punches the dummy's face, however, when the dummy lunged at her, Voyd yelped and hid behind a rock while shaking and whimpering. "This is going to be a very long day." Tasmo mumbled while sighing. "Voyd, please come out," Avia said. "This is practice." Voyd only looked at the dummy and whispered, "I'm sorry." before hiding again. Avia facepalmed. "Okay," Diesel said. "How about we try her powers? Wouldn't that sound a bit easier?" "Yeah, I agree with that." Orina said. "Voyd, come out. We're gonna try this again, only this time, you can use your powers." Avia said. "I can't....I might get hurt...." Voyd said. "Voyd, this is just practice. Besides, you won't get hurt during practice. It's a dummy." Avia said. "Voyd, this is to help you the next time you face real enemies. And I guarantee that you'll be fine, even if you get injured. You just need to have faith. Have faith." Voyd listened to Avia. She wasn't wrong. The only way to get yourself better at conquering things is by practicing and putting your faith in yourself and the Lord. Without it, you are sure to fail. Voyd finally realized what she had to do. She went back to the dummy and used her portals to fight. She did quick thinking as she let her arms attack the fake enemy from her portals. The experts watched in impression. Avia smiled as well. She knew that her super could conquer fear and trouble, all she needed was to find her confidence. And that's why she is in Diesel's den. To find it just by having faith. After Voyd was done attacking, the experts and Avia looked very proud. "I did it! I defeated him!" Voyd cheered. "I knew you could do it, Voyd!" Avia said. "Just like I said, if you keep on having faith in yourself, you will eventually get the hang of this and find your confidence." "Alright! That was impressive! Now that's what I like to see!" Diesel said. "Why don't we try to do a few more for today and we'll hit the hay?" Voyd looked nervous again. "A...another one?" She asked. "I.... I don't know." "It'll be fine, Voyd." Avia said. "It'll be nice and easy. Like I said, have faith. Just trust in yourself and in God and you can do this. Have faith." Voyd looked at the animals. She started thinking about it until she finally said, "Alright. Let's do this!" And so as the day went by, Voyd continued practicing fighting fake enemies by a little help from Avia and Diesel. However, she still didn't have her confidence inside her yet. She still needed some practice. She kept fighting and fighting. This was going to take a long time, but it was something for her to do the next time she faces real evil in the world once again. At night, Avia and Voyd slept together while waiting and being prepared for the next day of practice.
