I walked up next to Ashlyn, the girl in my class who has beautiful long ginger hair. Before I could greet her, the bus popped up out of nowhere, reminding me of the Knight Bus.
I stepped up after her, looking for a seat only for there to be one left.
"Ashlyn?" I call.
"Yeah?"
"Wanna sit together? I won't talk to you or anything." I offer.
Ashlyn's eyes seem to light up at my last sentence. "Sure."
I perk up when I see two unfamiliar faces: a tall pale boy with brown hair and a blonde boy with red eyes. The blondie threw himself over the brunette boy, a huge ecstatic smile over his face at the sight of the bus graveyard behind Ashlyn's house
Not even 5 seconds after we sat down, Ashlyn slammed into the seat in front of us, causing me to jump.
"Is that your house? What's up with the whole 'bus graveyard' thing?" The blonde asks.
"It's a junkyard with used buses..." gasped Ashlyn, looking very uncomfortable.
"That's it?" He asks
"Yeah?"
"Well, that's disappointing." He said flatly as I helped Ashlyn sit up. "I was hoping for some kind of lore or paranormal jazz." He admitted.
There was a long silence so I decided to speak up. "I've never seen you around here before. Are you new here or...?" I ask
"Oh, right!" He perks up, still smiling. "I'm Aiden! And that's my cousin Ben." He points to the boy next to him, who was sleeping.
"I'm (Y/N)." I offer my hand, which he shakes.
Aiden continues, "We just moved here a week or so ago from Virginia. Can't remember what town it was though. Oh hey, we love just a house down from you! Since we live so close, we should hang out often." He looks at Ashlyn.
However, Ashlyn holds up her hand and says, "sorry, nothing personal but, I'm a bit tired and not in much of a conversation mood." I knew this was a lie, as Ashlyn was the exact definition of an introvert.
Aiden goes to say something, pauses, hums, then says, "it's fine, I get it. You're just shy, right?" Ashlyn gives him a dead look to which I clap my hand to my mouth to silence a laugh. I see Ashlyn glaring daggers at me.
When we got off the bus, I was a able to introduce myself to Ben, who smiled at me sweetly and shook my hand.
We walked through the school, Aiden yapping my brain cells away, when Ben suddenly yanked on Aidens shirt, pointing at the office door.
"Oh, right. We gotta pick up our schedules-" Aiden stopped abruptly. Confused, I looked behind me only for Ashlyn to be gone.
Aiden chuckles, which turns to a loud, kinda disturbing laugh. "She's fast."
"Well, I'll catch you two later?" I smile nervously.
"Yeah! Maybe we'll get the same homeroom."
I wave bye before heading over to class. I notice my friend Logan, who's nervously looking at his schedule. He really needs to loosen up a bit.
As I sit down, I look up when I hear voices in the hall.
"We wouldn't be late if you would have helped instead of recording!" A voice yelled.
Two people ran in; Tyler and Taylor. They looked distressed and yelled, "sorry we're late!"
"Please don't mark us tardy!"A relief seemed to wash over the two as they relaxed slightly. "They aren't here yet."
"We still have a chance!" Taylor gasped.
