LANDO HAD NEVER ENVISIONED HIMSELF AS A FATHER. He expected to be single until pigs flew or for the rest of his life—whatever came first. But then he met Juliet and he knew his mind had changed.
The only thought coursing through his mind as he stared at her as she had said her vows, "I can't believe this is my life."
And with everything that had occurred between the two, achieving everything that they had now, having children had seemed like a distant dream. But now he stood in his own home, surrounded by furniture they had bought together and kid's toys that had been scattered everywhere like it was a permanent decoration in his home, and he realized it was no longer a dream.
Yet, it was the married life that felt like a dream. He woke up every day next to the woman he loved, grateful that he had the ability to call her his wife. Like clockwork, every morning at six am on the dot, their bedroom would be bombarded by the screams of a mischievous boy and the giggles of their wonderful little girl.
The dogs curled up on the end of their bed would wiggle and yap at the excitement that filled the room without any notice. Their slobber would cover his face—and for some reason, only his face, not Juliet's nor the children's. It was like Clementine and Lemon had a vendetta against him.
He couldn't imagine a better life. Truly. Though he would love to subtract the dog slobber from the equation.
Not even when he was forced to wake up early—though he would much prefer a later start—to spend a daddy day with his kids.
"Lan, are you sure you're okay with me going?" Juliet mumbled into his chest, her arms wrapped around his waist.
Lando rolled his eyes, "Yes, Julie. You need a spa day, you work too hard."
The two had fallen into a comfortable balance. It was like a well-choreographed dance. Juliet would spend her weeks caring for the children while Lando was away—a task which is important to note she doesn't mind doing—Yet, the minute Lando steps through the threshold of their home, his mind is far from racing.
Sawyer and Gracie were the only things that sat on his mind. The only constants in his world full of temporaries. They were his, not the world's.
He didn't have to share them with anyone but his wife. That's what he loved about his family, they were made just for him.
