"Just because he's my real brother, that's why I say such things." Liyan felt deep sorrow for the mother and son.
Judging by her words, it seemed that Luo Jingze, the little brat, had managed to sway her. A Diamond 3 player wanting to become a professional?
Even if he were pushed into it, he'd end up being nothing more than someone who sits by the water cooler for the rest of his life.
And he wouldn't even get a high school diploma, so what else could he do in the future?
"Your brother's life isn't your concern. Just let him stay with you for now." The woman was unwilling to continue arguing and issued a direct order.
"No way!" Liyan refused flatly, "If I keep him here, do you think I'll have any good results? Do you think I'll still be foolishly used as a shield by you all?"
"You ungrateful daughter, your brother has a share in that house, so why can't he stay there!" The woman, whose plans were ruthlessly exposed, became hysterical.
"All the money came from me, and the property deed is only in my name, so he has nothing to do with it." Liyan rolled her eyes and, tired of the conversation, hung up the phone.
Su Xun watched her departing figure, his hands clenched into fists by his sides.
His strong features grew even colder, with an expression as dark as ink.
He had always known that Liyan wasn't close to her parents and brother, but he never imagined the degree of gender bias until today.
If he had known earlier, he would have ensured she didn't suffer so many years of hardship.
Su Xun wanted to embrace the young girl and shield her from these troubling matters forever.
"Uh... Sorry for making you see this." After throwing Luo Jingze into the elevator, Liyan looked at the man leaning against the door with an awkward smile.
"It's fine. Troublemaker kids are always a handful." Su Xun collected his emotions and put on a sympathetic expression, "What's the trouble with that kid this time?"
"He's an idiot. Instead of studying, he wants to go into esports." Liyan complained in frustration.
"Esports?"
Seeing Su Xun's astonished expression, Liyan thought he didn't understand, so she quickly explained, "Do you know League of Legends? It's a team-based competitive game with national tournaments every year. That brat wants to drop out of school to join a professional team."
"I know League of Legends." Su Xun's lips curled up with a touch of sarcasm, "What's his rank?"
"Diamond 3, hahaha... Isn't that hilarious?" Liyan laughed derisively as she recalled the kid's best rank after playing for three or four years, "Not to mention the highest rank, he can't even reach the Master tier, and yet he thinks he can win a championship."
"Hmm, he's indeed a bit underwhelming." Su Xun nodded in agreement.
But what concerned him now wasn't this issue.
"Esports player? Isn't that somewhat of a distraction from a proper career?"
He stroked his chin, nervously glancing at Liyan. As she looked toward him, he quickly lowered his gaze, concealing the depth of his thoughts.
"How can being an esports player be considered a distraction from a proper career?" Liyan disagreed, speaking up.
"Although I really dislike guys who are obsessed with games all day, professional esports players bring glory to the country. Our great Z nation can't always let other countries take home the championship trophy."
