With a kick, Bai Lihang slammed the door shut and threw the enraged Luo Liyan onto the sofa.

He pressed himself down on top of her, pinning her in his embrace, leaving her unable to move an inch.

"What's the problem if I have ulterior motives? Are you trying to reject me?"

"Well, I have some ulterior motives towards you too," he thought with a smirk inside.

Luo Liyan silently laughed in her mind, imagining that if she had a tail, it would be wagging happily by now.

But on the surface, she put on an incredulous expression and timidly said, "I... I just owe you some money, I'm not going to sell myself."

"Who said anything about selling yourself?" Bai Lihang frowned, looking at the little one in his arms with a mix of exasperation and amusement. "With such imaginative thoughts, why don't you use them at work?"

"Well, who told you to restrict my freedom? I'm not refusing to pay you," Luo Liyan huffed with a hint of pride.

"How am I supposed to know if you might suddenly disappear again?" Bai Lihang raised an eyebrow, his tone carrying an implicit threat.

As expected, Luo Liyan's eyes showed a trace of panic and guilt amidst their sparkling brilliance.

With a slight smile, he shifted off Luo Liyan and sat up, rubbing his furrowed brow in frustration.

It seemed the little one knew something but was deliberately hiding it from him.

Was he still not trustworthy enough for her?

Bai Lihang let out a helpless chuckle. "Don't worry, I won't force you to say anything you don't want to in the future."

Huh?

Luo Liyan blinked in confusion, not understanding why he suddenly became so accommodating.

But as long as she could successfully resolve the issue of her sudden disappearances, she was quite satisfied.

"But I still need to go to work."

"That crappy company will be gone in a few hours. Do you think you'll still get a severance package if you go back now?" Bai Lihang smiled faintly, his tone calm but with a hint of teasing.

"What? I was supposed to get my salary in a week. How can it just shut down like that?" Luo Liyan complained, then glared at Bai Lihang like a guard dog. "Fess up, did you have something to do with this?"

Uh... Was it that obvious?

Bai Lihang scratched his nose, having intended to come up with a flimsy excuse to clear himself. But facing Luo Liyan's unwavering gaze, he couldn't utter a single lie.

In the end, he awkwardly cleared his throat.

"I knew it was you, you jerk!" Luo Liyan seethed, grabbing a cushion and throwing it at Bai Lihang.

Fortunately, the computer's ringing saved him from the situation.

Straightening his suit, Bai Lihang pushed the notebook on the coffee table towards Luo Liyan.

"Play with this for a while. I need to start a video conference."

Watching him make a hasty exit, Luo Liyan felt a sweet satisfaction in her heart, her smile widening.

Actually, he was kind of cute.

As time flowed quietly, the managers in the video conference noticed that the usually stern president had become particularly easygoing, even letting a couple of minor errors slide with just a casual mention.
