I was going to surprise her, turns out, I was in for a surprise.

Seeing Zaran's car outside should have been a clue enough. Fucking future partner.

I saw how quickly she snapped away from him as if caught doing something they weren't supposed to be doing. I only asked for two things, secrecy and Zaran being off-limits for her but when did she ever listen?

"Yes, you did," Zaran said, crossing his legs as he kept his ankle over his knee of the other leg, his arm still resting on the sofa where Seerat was sitting.

Her head snapped towards Zaran, I couldn't see what she said, or how she looked at him since her back was turned to me. Now they have a secret language too.

"Next time, choose a place that isn't my house," I said, walking over to my room before I remembered the gift I'd bought for her.

"Sahaj, you're-"

"Misunderstanding?" I asked, "I have no desire to understand this at all actually, I can't give two shits about who you sleep with behind my back."

Taking the little stuffed cat out of my pocket, I threw it in the dustbin, stupid of me to presume what her reaction would be.

Seerat flinched as the stuffed cat hit the bottom of the bin, the sound echoing louder than it should have in the tense silence. I didn't care.

She stood there, frozen, as if she couldn't believe what just happened. I could feel her eyes burning into my back, but I didn't turn around. I couldn't look at her right now, not when my mind was spinning with anger and hurt.

"How dare you?"

"Crazy that you say that to me." I turned to face her.

Seerat's voice trembled with anger as she took a step closer, her eyes narrowing. "How dare you accuse me of something like that?"

"How dare you invite your lover into my house?" I took a step towards her, "How dare you, Seerat?"

"That's how little you trust me?" She asked, "That's how low you think of me?" Her eyes welled up as she looked at me with anguish.

"Does it matter? You'll be out of this house in two months. That's what I think about. All the damn time." I watched as her face crumbled at my words, the shock and pain evident in her eyes. For a moment, I almost regretted saying it, but the anger inside me wouldn't let go.

"2 months...right." She nodded, wrapping her arms around her as she looked at Zaran, communicating with each other through eyes, again.

"Restless, aren't you?" I ask.

"Why don't you end your misery right now? Let's get divorced, six months are over, you can get your inheritance, divorce me," she said.

"Why? Can't wait for 2 months now? You signed a contract, remember? Pay me 10 crores and you are free to leave before the contract period is up." I shrugged.
