"Are you satisfied now?" Mehak yelled at her parents, looking at her brother getting off the floor as he wiped blood from his face.
"This is what you've been teaching your children?" Sahaj's father asked his younger brother, his voice a mixture of anger and disappointment.
"This isn't about what we teach our children," Sahaj's uncle shot back, defensive and visibly shaken. "This is about your blind trust in that woman and not your own blood."
Sahaj's father scoffed hearing his brother, "Your son touched my daughter inappropriately, on a day she was happy and celebrating her partner's success after going through so much last month and he ruined it all. I hope you'll feel as disgusted as I am with you every single time you look in the mirror. Both of you." He said, throwing a look at Neel before walking out with his wife.
Mehak, still shaking with anger, turned to her brother. "I don't want to call you my brother." She looked at him disappointedly.
Neel looked at her, eyes shining with anger as he refused to admit he was wrong, storming out of the venue too but not before punching the wall on his way out.
Sahaj on the other hand, watched his wife trying to catch her breath, her whole face covered with a red hue in the dim light, her heartbeat so loud that he could hear it in the silence of the car.
His hand was around her neck as he caressed her collarbone with his thumb before pulling her closer as he wrapped his arms around her until she wasn't gaping for a breath.
"Do you wanna listen to music?" He asked, turning on the music player, a playlist of old songs started playing as he shifted her back to the passenger seat.
"Thank you." She said, fiddling with her saree as she looked down.
"For what?" He asked, driving out of the parking lot, his eyes meeting his Neel's on the entryway.
A thought to run over him with the car crossed his mind when he saw him smirk looking at Seerat but a criminal record a day after becoming a senior partner was exactly what Neel would want to win.
"For believing me." She answered, her hand reaching for his in haste as he sped out all of a sudden, "Sahaj." She quickly wore her seatbelt as the lights slowly disappeared behind them.
He didn't say anything for the rest of the ride, driving home in silence as old bollywood songs played in the car, the only missing feeling was the sound of raindrops on the roof.
His hand had been on hers since the moment she held his hand and he seemed like he had no plans to leave, given that he was playing with her fingers all the time, not leaving her hand even when he had to change the gears.
Seerat would steal glances at him every once in a while, wondering what tomorrow would be like, a sigh escaped her lips as he hummed along to the song.
"How many kids do you want?" Sahaj asked her, watching her turn to him in confusion.
