Not even a day had passed, and your neighbour had once again become too bored with all the peace and quiet around the area. So he decided to jam to his favourite song again.
Evening had arrived early and you had only woken up from your peaceful sleep just a short while ago. You were just about to get ready to start working on the remaining part of your assignment, when the familiar beat of the ever-so-familiar song came rolling into your ears.
Your mouth hung open as you heard the screechy voice starting to scream out the barely graspable lyrics, again. Looking out through the window, you gazed at your neighbours' building, thinking – It's that bastard again!
Though it was hard to control the sudden rage you felt simmering inside, you still decided to wait five minutes, showing a bit of generosity to check whether the music stopped on its own or not. This was neither the first, nor the second, or even the third time you heard such loud music coming from your neighbours' house. In fact, it happened quite often, but it never usually lasted so long as it did today in the morning. So you needed to see if that was going to be the case this time too.
You were getting pretty impatient as you waited. You never thought that five minutes would take so long to finish unlike when it is time to get up from sleep. You waited and waited, tapping your foot constantly on the floor while your body drummed according to the song's vigorous and horrendous beats.
As time finally went up, you smacked your fist onto your study-table and stood up with an aggressive grunt. You pushed away your chair, causing it to topple to the floor before you wore your shoes and stomped outside. This time, you were in a loosely fitted dress that covered you down to your knee, making you look like a flat piece of sheet. But it still looked better than what you had on in the morning.
Walking right up to the nextdoor building, you smashed your knuckles onto the hard, wooden surface of your neighbours' door. If this time your knocks went unanswered like in the morning, you would just bulldoze yourself in without having any second thoughts.
But no matter the number of times you told yourself to burst in, you still couldn't until it was the fifth knock that went unanswered like the ones in the previous. You didn't have time. The papers lying on your desk back at home needed your immediate attention. So you gathered all the courage you could inside your chest, and threw out all the guilt and shame you might feel before shoving the doors open with force, making your grand entrance.
You already had your lines prepared during your five-minute wait in your room. You thought you'd start with a loud "You fucking son of a bitch!" before placing a good slap under your neighbour's ear. And you definitely would have done that, if not for the scene you saw right after the doors went out of your vision.
A guy was sleeping in a chair with a magazine-covered face at the end of the room. But beside that guy, there stood another tall person, holding a giant jukebox over his head as if he was aiming to throw the thing right on top of the sleeping guy.
That sleeping jerk was the one you met this morning. You wouldn't mistake that red jacket or that shiny silver hair after the kind of treatment he gave you. But the other man at his side – he had a different appearance. He wore a long coat, coloured in a seemingly darker shade of blue, which had silver, snaky patterns running along the arms and the edges of the coat. His swept back hair had the same colour as the guy beside him who was just about to be smashed by the jukebox that tall guy held over his head.
Being greeted by a scene such as this after entering someone's house would blow anyone's mind away, and the same happened to you. With a sharp intake of breath, you screamed with a pair of popped-out eyes.
"Wait! What are you-"
The sentence couldn't be finished in time. The jukebox had already gone off flying in the air. And there was no one to save the man from getting crushed by the heavy instrument. You scrunched your eyes right at the moment of impact as it crashed down, and your body tensed up as you heard the booming sound.
