20. Sick Omega

As dawn breaks, Lan Xichen and Lan Wangji wake up in their inn to a distressing discovery.

Wei Wuxian, who had been such a lively spirit the previous day, is now lying in bed with a high fever, shivering under the covers.

Lan Xichen says, concern etched on his face, “Wangji, Xue Yang informs me that Wei Wuxian’s temperature is dangerously high. We need to do something because he is not used to cold weather.”

Lan Wangji, equally worried, nods, “Brother, we should start with cold compresses to bring his fever down. I think this is going to be a bit painful for him for now.”

The two brothers quickly prepare cold, damp cloths and carefully begin placing them on Wei Wuxian’s forehead, neck, and wrists.

Wei Wuxian is barely conscious then he mumbles weakly, “I’m sorry, I didn’t mean to cause trouble. I don’t know how this is the first time I have a fever in years.”

Lan Xichen says softly, brushing a lock of hair from Wei Wuxian’s forehead, “Don’t worry about it, just focus on getting better. There’s nothing to worry about with a fever anyway, and I always feel much better after spending time with you.”

Lan Wangji’s hands are gentle as he adjusts the cloths, “We’ll take care of you so you don’t have to worry about anything anymore and just focus on getting better.”

The day progresses, and Lan Xichen takes on the responsibility of feeding Wei Wuxian.

Lan Xichen sits beside the bed, holding a bowl of soup then he says very calmly, “Here, Wei Wuxian, you need to eat. It will help you recover faster because you are the most beautiful omega in the heavenly world, so you shouldn’t get sick at all.”

Wei Wuxian, though weak, looks up at Lan Xichen with gratitude, he asks, “Thank you, Lan Xichen. I appreciate it but can I stay on earth for a little longer because I fell ill?”
