"mommy, daddy wake up wake up!" i am woken by the chants of my 5 year old, Francesca.
i open my eyes to see her jumping on the bed and my 8 year old son, freddie, standing in the doorway.
"whats wrong frankie?" i ask, my voice being croaky.
"shes exited because the waves outside are good" freddie explains
Here in malibu, we get good waves. Because my wife , renèe, grew up here, she was an amazing surfer. As soon as freddie and frankie started to walk she got them on a board. Now shes teaching our 3 year old, finley, how to surf.
"frankie the waves will be there for a few hours theres no need to rush sweetie" i tell her
"but daddy" she whines.
i look at the time and sigh. 7am.
"how about you let us sleep for 10 more minutes them well get up?"
"fine can i have a cuddle?" frankie asks
"ofcourse my baby come here" i open my arms and she lays next to me
"ur beards scratchy" she says and giggles
"you coming in lad?" i ask freddie
"no im going back to bed, frankie woke me up" he says and walks away.
"pumpkin you cant keep waking up freddie,okay?"
"okay im sorry i just got exited"
"i know, its okay" i kiss her head then slowly drift back to sleep.
