today im taking bri over to france for a week or two to see her grandparents. Its nice too see them still after my wife died, and in their home country.
'exited to see grandma and grandpa?' i ask squeezing her hand
'yeah!' she says. She speaks in english but has a sligit french accent and i really dont want her to loose that.
She learnt french with her mum and she taught me too. At home we still speak french but only on some words.
'bonjour sir would you like anything?' the flight attendants asks me.
'ill have a water please'
'anything for little miss?'
'bri want anything?'
'Est-ce que je peux avoir du jus de pomme s'il vous plaît ?' (can i have apple juice please?'
'Waouh ! Un français incroyable, bien sûr' (wow! amazing french, of course) the flight attendant replies then walks away
'Grand-mère sera-t-elle fière que je parle plus français pap' (will grandma be proud i speak more french daddy?)
'Je sais qu'elle le fera, bébé' (i know she will baby) i reply.
'grandma!' brielle shouts and she sees her grandma and jumps into her arms.
'Bonjour mon amour' (hello my love)
'Ravi de te voir, Liam' (nice to see you liam) my father in law says and hugs me
'Vous aussi grabriel, vous nous avez vraiment manqué les gars' (you too grabriel, we really missed you guys) i reply
'Papa grand-mère dit que j'ai l'air fluide !' (daddy grandma said i sound fluent) brielle says so me exitedly as we get in grabriels car.
'Oui, bébé ! Tu l'as appris avec ta mère, tu te souviens ? Elle était entièrement française' (yes baby you do! You learnt it with your mum do you remember? She was fully french) i reply
'Maman me manque' (i miss mummy) she replies sadly.
'Je sais bébé, mais je sais aussi qu'elle serait si fière de qui tu es maintenant et je sais qu'elle te sourit tous les jours !' (i know baby but i also know that she would be so proud of who you are now and i know she smiles down on you everyday!) i reply.
'do you think if i spoke to her at night she would listen?'
'yes baby i know she would' and she smiles and cuddles into my side
