Chapter 33 - Fire

Wei Ying was shocked to see Lan Zhan like this. He looks so dishielved and beaten. What happened to him. Wei Ying walked towards Lan Zhan.

"Hanguang Jun, are you alright? You should go to bed," Wei Ying said and walked slowly to Lan Zhan's side. He remember that time when he pulled a prank with Lan Zhan before. He was like this. He carefully lifted Lan Zhan's arms but he was too big and too heavy. "Hanguang Jun!"

"Mn... I don't want..." Lan Zhan muttered but Wei Ying heard it clearly. The latter sighed and shook his head.

"Hanguang Jun, if your uncle finds out about this, you will get hurt by those planks again! Come on now!" Wei Ying said and pulled him up again. It made Lan Zhan stiffened and looked at Wei Ying.

"Huh?... how did you... know that?" Lan Zhan slurred. It was Wei Ying's turn to be frozen. It seems he made a slipnof tongue.

"Ah! Um... the seniors! I heard the seniors talk about it! That Yilling Laozu, he made you got hurt like that! Well, he deserve 50 hits!" Wei Ying exclaimed. Lan Zhan's eyebrow furrowed.

"How's you know it was 50?" Lan Zhan asked again. Wei Ying wanted to run away. His mouth is like firing and exposing himself right now.

"Ahhh! Well.. Um... The seniors?" Wei Ying answred in a whisper. But Lan Zhan just stared at him and looked away.

"It's not Wei Ying's fault..." Lan Zhan said. Wei Ying turned his head. "It was mine... I let myself to be indulged..." Lan Zhan's voice was slurred but Wei Ying can understand.

"Why?" Wei Ying can't stop his curiousness. He wanted to know.

"Can easilly get out of his puppetry... But... I wanted to be close..." Lan Zhan staggard to stand up, Wei Ying helped him to balance himself. Lan Zhan went out of his home and Wei Ying followed.

"Wanted to be close? To whom?" Wei Ying asked. Maybe this is a clue? To know who he likes? Does it Huisang? Or Jiang Cheng? Is that the reason why he didn't come to his wedding? Because he like Jiang Cheng!!!

That Jiang Cheng! He caught the twin jades's hearts!

Wei Ying followed Lan Zhan with a heavy heart when he realize it that the person he likes is Jiang Cheng. Wei Ying followed Lan Zhan until they arrived to the chamber of memoire. It seems that Lan Zhan was looking for something.

"Child, do you have regrets in life?" Wei Ying heard Lan Zhan askes. Wei Ying is in disbelief. How could Lan Zhan asked a child if he has regrets in life? Of course, Wei Ying acted like a child.

"What is regrets, Hanguang Jun?" Wei Ying asked and looked down on the floor.

"Something... You... want to do but you didn't do because of some circumstances..." Lan Zhan answred. "If you ask me if I have regrets... Then I do..."

'So you regret... On leaving him and your brother got ahead of you?' Wei Ying thought sadly. There is pain in his eyes while he look at Lan Zhan.

"I see... I think you will be fine, Hanguang Jun. He was still there and you can live," Wei Ying said and smiled. Lan Zhan turned his head to him for a few seconds then turned to look away.

"It's not here," Lan Zhan said. Wei Ying's frowned. What is Lan Zhan looking for?

"Hanguang Jun, what are you looking for?" Wei Ying asked. He will help him to look for it.

"It's not here..." Lan Zhan gritted his teeth and he pushed aside all the items on the tables. Wei Ying was surprised and saw the anger in Lan Zhan's eyes. The same anger he saw when they saw each other after that 3 months. A candle fell down under a long curtain. The lower layer of the courtain was lit up by fire. 

"H-Hanguang Jun..." Wei Ying called Lan Zhan his name and then he noticed that a fire broke out. He went to Lan Zhan immediately. "Hanguang Jun! There is fire! Let's go!"

"Let me go!" Lan Zhan pulled his hand away and he fell down on the floor because of being unbalanced and intoxicated.

"Hanguang Jun! Let's go! You can't stay here!" Wei Ying said and pulled Lan Zhan but he was too little and too weak to take Lan Zhan out.

"Leave... If you want... I'd rather stay here..." Lan Zhan said. Wei Ying couldn't believe what he hears. Lan Zhan seems to be out of his mind.

"Hanguang jun! You're going to die if I left you here!" Wei Ying exclaimed. Lan Zhan scoffed.

"Maybe... Isn't that good? I left him all alone... alone by himself..." Lan Zhan mumbled and closed his eyes. Wei Ying panicked. What is happening to Lan Zhan! Is this the result of being in love with Jiang Cheng? Going to give his life up for unrecruited love from Jiang Cheng?!

"Hanguang Jun! Stand up! Don't sleep!" Wei Ying said and tried to pull him away. No, he won't leave unless Lan Zhan leaves. He feared for Lan Zhan's life. The fire was getting bigger. "Lan Zhan! Lan Zhan! Wake up!"

He tap his face a lot of times but he's not waking up. So he decided to pull Lan Zhan out of the room. Because if he didn't he and Lan Zhan will perish. He doesn't want that.

"Lan Zhan, you fuddy duddy! I will ask for compensation after this!" Wei Ying said and gritted his teeth but then he was surprised when someone picked him up and they left the burning house. He turned his head and saw that it was Lan Zhan. "Hanguang jun!"

When they got out safely. Wei Ying cough a lot of times and wheeze. While Lan Zhan laid down on the grass, passed out. Wei Ying went to him and checked if he's okay. When he was sure that Lan Zhan was okay, he sighed in relief.

"Quick! Put down the fire!" Then a lot of Lan disciples came, even Lan Xichen, Jiang Cheng and Lan Qiren came. When Wei Ying saw Jiang Cheng, there's this chill run to his spine. He remember the anger from Jiang Cheng's face and it became a fear to him. Wei Ying gripped Lan Zhan's robe tightly and he wanted to buried his own to his robe to hide.

"Li Childe! What are you doing?" A Lan disciple asked when he saw him Wei Ying. "Is that Hanguang Jun?"

The voice reached to trio so they looked to where Wei Ying and Lan Zhan is. When thet noticed that Lan Zhan was passed out on the grass, they immediately went to them.

"Li Wuxian! What happened here," Lan Qiren asked in shocked. Also he could smell liqour coming from Lan Zhan. Jiang Cheng looked at Wei Ying who shiver in the end.

"I-I... I'm sorry..." Wei Ying whispered. Tears started to pour out from his eyes. He was intimidated with Jiang Cheng's eyes. He could remember the look of Yu Ziyuan from his look. Lan Xichen noticed it and looked at Jiang Cheng who sighed and took a step back.

"What happened, explain it to us," Lan Xichen asked and kneeled to face Wei Ying but he didn't utter a word.

"A-YING!" They heard Cangse Sanren's voice who went to them and she immediately went to Wei Ying's side. She picked up Wei Ying and hugged him tightly. "My dear, you left the room again. You can't sleep?"

"A-Niang..." Wei Ying whispered and cried softly. He felt safe and tears keeps on falling from his eyes. He wanted to stop it but it seems like his body just want to cry like a child.

"Oh my baby..." Cangse Sanren caress Wei Ying's head. Wei Changze looked around and decided to help to put out the fire.

"Xichen, quick and help Wangji," Lan Qiren said. Lan Xichen nodded and went to his younger brother. When he was about to touch Lan Zhan, the latter opened his eyes and give a Lan Xichen a glare. Which made Lan Xichen stiffened.

"Don't touch me," Lan Zhan growled. They were all surprised because of his refusal to be touched by his own brother.
