Chapter 4
Ananya didn’t expect to see Pranav again soon, especially not at Delhi University. She rushed to the library and noticed Pranav standing near the entrance, leaning against the wall. When their eyes met, for a moment, the noise of the campus faded away. Pranav smiled at her, he looked like he had been waiting for her.
“Ananya,” he greeted her warmly. “I didn’t expect to see you here.”
Ananya felt a small pound in her chest. She said it was unexpected to see you on my campus .“Do you study here too?” she asked.
Pranav shook his head. “No, I’m just visiting a friend. But it seems like fate wanted us to meet again.” He smirked.
They started walking together across the campus, talking casually at first. Ananya shared more about her classes, her professors, and the stress of upcoming exams. Pranav listened carefully.Walking, they passed a small park with blooming flowers and benches. The sight of the park brought back a memory for Ananya of a garden from her childhood where she used to play. She had almost forgotten about it, but something about this moment brought it back.
Before she could say anything, Pranav spoke up. “This place reminds me of a garden I used to visit when I was a kid. It was in a small town, hidden away from the main streets. Ananya stopped walking, her heart skipping a beat. “What did you say?”
Pranav looked at her, a little confused. “I was just thinking about that garden. I haven’t thought about it in years, and it's been a long that I visited there but being here made me think again of that garden.
Ananya felt a chill down her spine. “Can you describe it more?” she asked, trying to keep her voice steady.
Pranav nodded, thinking hard. “There were flowers everywhere. The bench was old. I used to sit there for hours, watching the leaves in the breeze. It felt like a secret world, just for me.”
Ananya is puzzled. The garden he was describing was exactly like the garden she used to play during her childhood. The place was so special to her that she had never told anyone about it not even her closest friends. Yet Pranav is describing it as if he had been there too.
“How do you know about that place?” Ananya asked. “That garden... it was in my hometown. I used to go there all the time when I was a kid. But you couldn’t know that.”
Pranav looked just as surprised. “Your hometown? But I’ve never been there. I don’t understand…”
Neither did Ananya. The coincidence was too strange to ignore, but there was no logical explanation. How could Pranav have memories of a place he had never been? The more she thought about it, the more she was confused. This wasn’t just a simple meeting; something deeper was happening.
Pranav seemed thoughtful like he was trying to solve a puzzle he didn’t fully understand. Ananya, on the other hand, felt more uneasy. There was a connection between them, but it wasn’t normal it was something that didn’t make sense, something that hinted at the past that they couldn’t remember.
As they reached the library, Ananya knew she needed space to think. “I should go,” she said softly, turning to Pranav. “I have some work to complete.”
Pranav nodded “Of course. But, Ananya... if you ever want to talk more about this, I’m here.
Ananya forced a small smile, her mind still spinning. “Maybe,” she replied, though she wasn’t sure if she was ready to dig deeper into the mystery yet. As she walked away, she could feel Pranav’s eyes on her, and she wanted to ask him more about that place.
But she didn’t. Instead, she hurried into the library. Even as she tried to focus on her studies, her thoughts kept drifting back to that garden and Pranav.
By the time she left the library, the sun was setting, casting long shadows across the campus. Ananya paused at the entrance, her mind still buzzing with unanswered questions. Whatever was happening between her and Pranav, was only just beginning. And she knew she couldn’t ignore it forever.
