Chapter 5
Ananya couldn’t stop thinking about Pranav’s strange memories even though he hadn’t visited Ananya’s hometown. They felt too real. She needed to know more, so she decided to visit her childhood hometown, thinking she would find the truth.
The bus ride to her hometown was pleasant. As Ananya entered the countryside, she felt a mix of nervousness. It had been a long time since she last visited, but the memories rushed back, she could recall the day she used to run through the streets, buying sweets from the local shop, etc, those memories brought a smile to her face as she passed familiar landmarks.
When she arrived, she noticed the place remained the same only she saw some alterations in the home and buildings. She walked through the streets, as she approached the garden she used to visit during her childhood. The path was covered with tall grass and wildflowers, but she pushed through until she reached the entrance.
The garden looked just like Pranav had described. Ananya sat down on the bench. Memories began to rush back, she used to spend hours here, playing. Also she remembered something else, a boy who used to visit the garden with her. They usually played together, but one day, he stopped coming, and as time passed, she forgot about him.
When Pranav entered her life again those memories were returning. She wondered if Pranav could be that boy who used to play with her. It didn’t seem possible, but the similarities were too strong to ignore.
To find out more, Ananya decided to visit Mrs.Rose whom she remembered, who is the neighbor of her who lived near the garden.
Mrs. Rose was a kind person and had a sharp memory. Ananya hoped she could help her to know more about her memories.
When Ananya knocked on Mrs. Rose’s door, the elderly woman greeted her warmly. “Ananya, it’s been so long! Come in dear,” she said, smiling.
They sat in the cozy living room, she prepared coffee for both of them, the coffee smell filled the living room, the coffee prepared by Mrs.Rose was Ananya’s favorite. After a sip, Ananya quickly explained why she had come. “Mrs. Rose, do you remember a boy who used to play in the garden with me? It was a long time ago, but I can’t stop thinking about it.”
Mrs. Rose thought for a second, then nodded slowly. “Yes, I remember. There was a boy... He used to come often, but then one day, he just stopped. I never knew why. You were both so young.”
Ananya is excited. “Do you remember his name?” she asked. She was excited maybe it was Pranav.
Mrs. Rose shook her head. I don’t. But I do remember how close you two were. You were close friends, even though you were just children. Then they both discussed their current life scenario and Ananya bid a bye.
Ananya left Mrs. Rose’s house with more questions than answers. The visit confirmed that the boy was real, but she was confused about how Pranav knew about the garden. As she moved back to town, she felt both curious and uneasy. She felt a strong connection between her and Pranav, something deeper than she had ever imagined.
