As the group began to gather their belongings and prepare for the journey back, Obanai sat on a nearby log, carefully cleaning his sword. The blade had been put to good use,he wiped the weapon clean.

Giyuu approached, his steps silent on the forest floor. He stood a few feet away from Obanai, his gaze fixed on the horizon. The tension between them was palpable, a silent barrier that neither was willing to breach. Giyuu’s eyes occasionally flicked toward Obanai, but he made no move to engage.

Obanai, feeling the weight of Giyuu’s presence, found himself drawn to the other Hashira. He stole glances at Giyuu, observing the way the morning light caught in his deep blue eyes, making them look almost ethereal. A strange flutter of emotion stirred in Obanai’s chest, and he quickly avoided his gaze, his face flushing with embarrassment.

“What the hell is wrong with me?” Obanai muttered under his breath, shaking his head as if to dispel the unwelcome thoughts. His mind churned with frustration. “I hate Tomioka. I hate his cold demeanor. He looks like a damn rat with those beady eyes.”
He couldn’t afford to be distracted by emotions he refused to understand.

As evening approached, the group arrived at a small inn. They were welcomed with warm food and a place to rest.Tanjiro and his friends settled into their rooms, leaving Giyuu and Obanai to their own.

In the quiet courtyard,Giyuu sat against a stone wall, his eyes closed in contemplation. The faint glow of lanterns provided a soft light, Obanai stood nearby, struggling with his thoughts.

Obanai watched Giyuu’s profile, his gaze ,,accidently" lingering on the other Hashira’s face. The soft glow made Giyuu’s eyes look strikingly beautiful, and Obanai felt a flush of heat rising to his cheeks.

Obanai’s heart raced as he realized he was staring at Giyuu for too long. He quickly looked away, his cheeks burning with embarrassment. “What the fuck is wrong with me,did i catch a cold or something? I might have to visit kocho." he muttered. He clenched his fists, trying to push aside the confusing emotions that had surfaced.

Giyuu, sensing Obanai’s gaze, opened his eyes and briefly met his gaze. There was a fleeting moment of mutual recognition, but Giyuu quickly looked away, returning to his silent contemplation. The brief connection left both of them feeling unsettled.

As night fell, Obanai found himself unable to sleep. He sat on his futon, staring out into the darkness, his mind racing with thoughts of the day’s events. The lingering tension with Giyuu and the strange feelings it stirred in him kept him awake.

He reflected on the moments of unspoken connection and the complexity of his emotions. Despite his best efforts to focus on his duties as a Hashira, his thoughts kept drifting back to Giyuu. He clenched his fists, determined to push aside the feelings and concentrate on the tasks ahead.

The next morning the group prepared to continue their journey. The tension between Obanai and Giyuu remained, but there was a subtle shift in their interactions. Giyuu offered a brief nod to Obanai, and though the gesture was minimal, it carried a weight of mutual acknowledgment.
