Giyuu's pov:
Giyuu was walking through a familiar forest, the sunlight filtering through the leaves in gentle rays. He wasn’t alone. Tsutako walked beside him, her laughter filling the air like music, and ahead of them, Sabito’s voice called out, urging them to catch up. Everything felt peaceful, serene, as if the horrors of the world had never touched them.
But the peace didn’t last. As they walked, the light began to fade, shadows creeping in from the edges of his vision. He reached out for Tsutako, but she was already slipping away, her form dissolving like mist. Sabito turned to face him, his expression unreadable, and then he too began to fade.
“Wait!” Giyuu called out, his voice echoing in the emptiness. But there was no answer, only the cold realization that they were gone—again.
Giyuu jerked awake, his heart pounding in his chest. He lay there, staring up at the ceiling, his breath coming in shallow gasps. It took him a moment to realize that his face was wet. He reached up, his fingers brushing against the tears that had slipped out while he slept.
It had been a long time since he’d cried. The last time he could remember was... he didn’t want to think about that. Quickly, he wiped his eyes, sitting up and pushing the dream to the back of his mind. He couldn’t afford to dwell on it, not now.
The morning air was cool as he and Obanai made their way through the forest. They had been sent to deal with a demon that had been terrorizing a nearby village. A simple task, one that shouldn’t have required much thought. But Giyuu’s mind kept drifting back to the dream, to the faces of his sister and his friend, to the guilt that gnawed at him like a wound that refused to heal.
He kept his eyes forward, his expression impassive as always, but inside, he was anything but calm. The dream had shaken him more than he wanted to admit, and it was making it hard to focus on the task at hand.
When they found the demon, Giyuu moved with his usual precision, his blade cutting through the air with deadly accuracy. But there was a tension in his movements, a subtle hesitation that hadn’t been there before. He could feel Obanai’s eyes on him, could sense the other Hashira’s awareness of his slight delay, but Giyuu didn’t dare look back.
The fight ended quickly, the demon’s body dissolving into ash at their feet. But as the battle ended, the memories of the dream lingered, like a shadow he couldn’t shake. Giyuu sheathed his sword, his gaze distant as he tried to push the thoughts away.
They returned to the Wisteria House in silence, the evening sun casting long shadows across the ground. When they entered their shared room, Giyuu noticed Obanai watching him, his gaze sharp and probing. Giyuu quickly turned away, unwilling to let the other Hashira see any hint of weakness.
But as they prepared for bed, Giyuu couldn’t help but feel the weight of the dream pressing down on him. The faces of his sister and Sabito haunted his thoughts, their voices echoing in his mind. He lay down, facing the wall, trying to push it all away, but sleep wouldn’t come.
He stayed like that for what felt like hours, the room silent except for the soft sounds of Obanai’s breathing. Eventually, he couldn’t take it anymore. He needed air, needed space to clear his head. Quietly, he slipped out of the futon, careful not to wake Obanai, and made his way outside.
(So if Yall are confused its Giyuu's pov after obanais freaky dream, that means obanai is asleep after waking up due to the dream)
The night was cool, the moon hanging low in the sky, casting a pale light over the world. Giyuu took a deep breath, letting the chill of the night air calm his racing thoughts. But as he stood there, staring up at the moon, the tears he’d been holding back finally broke free.
For once, he didn’t try to stop them. He let them fall, silent and unnoticed, the only witness to his grief being the cold, unfeeling moon above.
