Karen Kolchak never had a great life growing up. First, her father died when she was a baby and when she started going to school people avoided her because of that. She started going through a gothic phase when she was in middle school and people started referring to her as Creepy Karen. Not everyone treated her badly because there were only a few people that treated her well. First, her mother was the one who stuck by her all this time since she was born.
Second, it was the manager of the video store when she started working there in middle school. Thirdly, it was Principal Himbry, she was always being judged by others and treated like an outcast and seeing that she didn't have a father he thought he'd act as a father figure towards her. Then there's Dewey Riley who initially agreed with everyone else, but after talking to Randy, Dewey began to feel sympathetic towards her and was willing to protect her. Then there's one person who's been there for her all these years since she was a kid, the person who stole her heart, Randy Meeks. Ever since she met him in kindergarten he's been supportive, kind, and loving towards her.
Years were passing and their friendship grew stronger each year but sadly Randy was in a different friend group. There was a guy named Billy Loomis and Randy didn't seem to like him and Karen agreed. She heard that his mother left him when he was a kid and that messed him up. Then there's Stu Macher, the goofy funny friend but Karen thought there was something off about him and avoided him. Then there's Tatum Riley, Dewey's younger sister, and let's just say that she didn't like Tatum at all.
Karen didn't like girls who thought they were better than everyone else and felt that she treated Dewey unfairly. Then there was the girl she hated with a passion, Sidney Prescott. The girl who was sweet and innocent but Karen didn't think that way, and much to her disappointment Randy had a crush on her. Sidney, being oblivious, never noticed the crush, Karen didn't like how Billy, Stu, and Tatum were treating Randy and she didn't like how Sidney was allowing it. Karen made one friend who she met acting class, Judy Hicks, they both got along pretty good very quickly.
Karen was currently walking home after successfully convincing her boss to rehire Randy. She was planning to confess to Randy and smiled at the thought of her telling him. Once Karen arrived at her destination she saw a few police cars in front of her house and that made her confused. She walked to the front of her house and saw Dewey and the Sheriff talking to each other. She quickly approached him to see what was going on.
"Dewey, what are you doing here ? What's happening ?" Karen asked. Dewey and The Sheriff turned to look at her with sympathetic expressions.
"Karen, I don't know how to say this but while you were gone, your mother had a stroke. A neighbor heard a noise and called 911. One of them came into the house to check on her until support arrived." Dewey explained. Karen was in disbelief at what she just heard, this was something that she didn't expect.
"Dewey, please tell me she's going to be okay." Karen begged with tears threatening to spill but when Dewey held his head down that didn't help her feel better.
"I'm sorry, Karen. But there were multiple organ failures. She's gone." Dewey revealed with a sad expression.
Karen was speechless at what she just heard, her mother had passed away and she never got to say goodbye. She heard something coming out of the front door and saw two people taking out a stretcher with a body bag. Karen felt her legs being wobbly and her heart beating at a rapid pace, she felt that couldn't breathe as she fell down to her knees. Karen felt hands being wrapped around her and she could tell that it was Dewey based on the way he did it and she turned around and wrapped her arms around him and began crying into his chest as he kept his comforting grip. One week later, she was currently in her funeral clothes as she watched her mother's casket getting buried in the grave.
