The Next Wave

A lot has happened the last 13 months, after High School was over everyone wanted to go to New York as a fresh start. RJ earned approximately $21,000 from his last five months at Woodsboro High School and the kids did Summer semester for College. The kids went to college at Blackmore University, Sam went with them to make up for lost time, and RJ was just there for the ride. RJ had made a promise to Aunt Martha to look out for the twins, but Chad and Mindy were pretty much against the idea of having their older cousin as their babysitter. The Twins didn't like that he was sent to watch them, they didn't want to be treated like children.

RJ didn't hover or act overprotective like Sam, because he knew when to give someone their space. But sadly, they weren't children anymore, so he had to let them make mistakes on their own. Since he wasn't a teacher anymore, he now holds a job at "Hasta El Fuego" as a bartender. He's been doing job interviews to get out of the position he's in. He's had job interviews for MIT, NYU, Cornell University, and Columbia University, even Gale offered him a temporary job as her cameraman.

RJ got through most of those but they didn't have any job openings, so the only options he had left were, the cameraman job or Columbia job. Tonight was a big night, it was his last night at the restaurant and he was making a drink for someone. A blonde woman in a yellow dress, who was looking around the place and back at her phone.

"Hello there. To whom am I serving this drink to ?" RJ asked in a British accent.

"I'm Laura Crane." Laura introduced herself as she looked at her phone.

"You seem down. What's wrong ?" RJ asked.

"Either my date is running late or he ditched me." Laura said as she continued tapping on her phone.

RJ nodded with understanding and walked away, leaving her be. While he was serving other drinks, he looked over and saw Laura leaving with her phone on her ear. RJ had a feeling that something wasn't right, so he asked his friend to cover him as he left his post and followed the lady. He had exited the building and he followed the woman across the street ignoring the cars into a dark alley. Suddenly she turned and looked at the right side of the alley and stared the wall for some reason, then she was just scared as she looked to the left and saw that it was people dressed in costumes walking by. Then Ghostface came out of the shadows running towards her, making Laura scream in fear. Ghostface stabbed her in the shoulder backing her into a wall, before he could stab her again, RJ tackled him to the ground and punched him on the side of his head stunning him. RJ turned to Laura, who just stood there shaking and frozen in fear.

"Go! Call the cops and get help!!! Now!!" RJ shouted as he returned his focus on the Ghostface in front of him and continued punching him in the face a few times.

He pulled out his taser and placed it against Ghostface' neck stunning him even more. He gave one final headbutt to the downed enemy before pulling off his mask. RJ recognized the man, Jason Carvey, a fellow film student of Tara and the others. He glared at the unconscious man and got on his feet and kicked the knife away. A while later, RJ watched as Jason was escorted by to the back of a police car with a neutral expression. It felt too easy to take him down and didn't think that it was over, but suddenly he felt someone poking his back, and he turned around to see Laura with a sling on the arm where she got stabbed.

"Update ?" RJ asked.

"I have to go to the hospital and get surgery, then I have to wear a sling until my arm is fully healed. I already told the cops everything, so I'll be in protective custody until whatever's happening is over. You caught my attacker already so why am I being put in protective custody ?" Laura asked.

"I think that's my fault. I told the cops that there are usually two killers if not one, and it felt too easy to take him down and they told me that they might take precautions." RJ said.
