Had she begun hallucinating after a family sized bag of chips,leftover burger and sleeping at five in the morning? She really couldn't tell,to be honest.
A black chubby cat stood on it's four legs looking at her with it's green eyes-nothing strange,it was completely normal.
Except it was speaking English.
And the fact that they were standing on the surface of water a shade of the most vibrant blue,with glittery flecks as if stars themselves were plucked from the sky and stirred into the water-giving birth to this a gliterry blue abyss.
Her naked feet could feel the cool sensation as the water rippled,though didn't quite wet her skin. She skimmed her fingers over it once she bent down. It glowed at the spots she touched.
It was gorgeous,she wanted to look around for longer but the English speaking cat was more of a concern than her surroundings at the moment.
Well,the unknown reason why she woke up here instead of her own room was a big concern too,but her mind was focused on the green eyes peering at her with anticipation.
"Have you woken up properly yet?" The cat spoke,it's voice was what she'd imagine in a movie. Something between a purr and a human voice.
'Have I actually gone insane due to lack of sleep?'
She rubbed her eyes,hoping for whatever dream or hallucination she was seeing would go away. As she opened her eyes,everything was the same as it was.
"Host-"
"Is this like one of those transmigration novels where the female lead somehow ends up in a novel and has to do tasks?"
She questioned before it could speak further. Just the term 'host' confirmed it but it's safer to confirm than to dive straight into insanity.
It's something she's witnessed countless times before,but the difference was that it was witnessed through words and pictures-never in person.
She couldn't believe it but it felt too real to be sleep paralysis even.
"I'm glad you know about it because it's a bother to explain it all to someone." The cat meowed in delight as it stretched,it's tail curled and it's whiskers flickered.
'No fucking way...' She wanted to know why and how she ended up with a system,but it cut her off even before she could speam.
"So host,you already know so can we just immediately jump into the task?"
A tranlucent window popped up in front of her,making her jump at the sudden appearance.

"What! Why isn't there an option to choose 'no'?!"
"Those are just formalities,I can't send you back once you're here."
"But I don't even know what's going on!" She exclaimed,sighingwith her head hung low and groaned.
'Why did this have to happen to me of all people?'
This was going to be such a pain in the ass.
Sure,it's a little fun and and more frustrating to read a novel that has more than a thousand chapters,making you wonder what the author smoked to make it that long when the storyline mostly ever consisted of copypaste villains and dramatic romance.
"Hey,system I guess I could call you? What's the name of the novel?" She asked,hoping it was one she had read before remembering more than half of them were hotter than dumpster fires.
'All the one's I have read are absolute trash.' This made her even more uncertain and nervous about her future;is it going to be a historical or a modern one,romance or-
"Oh it's probably one you've heard of 'The Male Lead's White Moonlight'."
A piece of her soul died at the name.
There was a certain stab felt in her heart when she heard the name and it showed on her face all too clearly. "This is a chinese novel?!" It could be worse than what she expected.
'No no no please not the entertainment shi-'
"You're very knowledgeable host! Well time to go now!"
"Wait-" Suddenly,the solid waterwaves underneath her feet vanished and limps flailed around on instinct to grab onto something.
The scenery changed from the glittery blue to the open sky,her falling body piercing through the clouds as she sucked in a big breath in the form of a panicked gasp.
She was falling from the sky.
When the sudden realization hit her,she immediately closed her eyes and prayed for the best.
"System! What have you done to me?!" She yelled at the top of her lungs to the point her voice cracked and throat was strained. Within moments,she felt claws digging into her back.
"Yes,host?! What seems to be the matter?" System meowed in her ear,hoping she managed to catch it's words.
"Are you trying to kill me already?! Why the fuck are we falling!?" Her screams sounded too muffled from the sound of the harsh wind,she felt like crying.
"Host don't worry you won't feel anything when you hit the ground"
"You better not be lying!"
She held system close to her chest as system clung to her shirt with all it's might,both huddled together like skydivers.
Except there's no parachute,only prayers.
Her back hit the ground and she screamed despite there being no pain,only the sensation of solid ground.
Her body trembled as her heart was still running on max horsepower. Her lungs burned for the desire of oxygen while her hands clutched the furry animal over her torso,she refused to open her eyes.
Waiting and waiting,all she heard was the sound of the light chirping of birds and the sound of leaves being gently grazed by soft breeze. The scent of flowers wafted along with it.
She built up the courage within her to open her eyes to see the sky she was just falling from now above her with soft,luscious grass beneath.The smell of greenery engulfed her senses and helped her calm own.
She's still alive,for now.
