Trouble really never hesitates to crash into his life.
He'd gotten enough time to continue his studies without anyone bothering while sitting by the window sill. Though, a place like the loud and crowded hallway during break might not be a suitable place to do so, it was the next best option after the empty classroom he couldn't stay in any longer because a teacher caught him.
It might have been the start of the new session but he can't slow down. So, every opportunity he gets, he takes it.
It's not like he gets to study painlessly at home.
At least here, it's mostly empty talk.
His stomach begged him to eat something, but he couldn't afford to buy lunch.
It costs too much, especially here in the academy where the prices of everything are nearly double of what's available at outside shops.
He can go a day without eating, just as he mostly does except for the few times he's too desperate enough to eat.
But no matter how unaffected he may seem, he cannot deny it when he feels the tiniest, mostinsignificant desire to relish in the warm and luscious meals they had to offer. To eat with leisure when he'd feel a painful burning sensation in his stomach like the other students.
The distaste he has feels when perfectly good food is thrown on the tables or the floors because his classmates thought it would be 'fun' to trip someone.
But the idea of even a proper meal, was a luxury he could not afford.
And so he depends on his studies as a distraction from the messy world and a way, the only way to a prosperous future where he and Shen Li wouldn't be plunged in this hell and one day, they'll live.
Maybe not happily, but at least they will have what they need.
They'd no longer go to bed hungry.
But he knows it's in the distant future if even possible and for that- he's willing to do anything,even if it means he has to devote all his hours to books with words and numbers that blend together after long hours into the night because it's one of the few times there's no disturbance lingering around.
He's willing to do jobs after jobs. Sometimes after long shifts, he comes back home late at night when it's time to buy Shen Li's medicines, not knowing what awaits him.
