Shen Li took in deep breaths to calm down, her hand on her chest while doing so. Still, it was no less than a shock to be visited by the daughter of one of the most influential men around.

Come to think of it-they moved in a few days ago, but neither of the two neighbors came to greet each other.

Especially when they've been neighbors before.

She remembered when her house was the only one in the entire area and when news reached that the entire neighborhood had been bought by a wealthy businessman-who was none other than Gilbert, she was distraught.

It was many years ago, back when Shen Xiao was around one or two years old.

She doesn't remember.

She was frightened as to why a man whose name began to spread throughout the business world, was coming here, and if she would be forced to leave this place she called home.

But none of that happened.

Instead, they were allowed to live while a vacation home for the Wright family was built right besides her home as the location gave the best view.

Except for the Shen residence, which seemed like a stain to the place's beauty.

The news did not make her feel relieved because the thought of having neighbors-one so wealthy in that period of her life would've been a nightmare. That was also proven wrong as the Wright's turned out to be very private people, mostly keeping to themselves.

She-in fact could recall the amount of times she's ever spoken to Gilbert who wasn't like what she thought on one hand.

Snarky, entitled and someone who'd treat her with disdain because of their extreme difference in status- that's what she once associated Gilbert with whenever she'd hear of him through him.

The day Shen Li did meet Gilbert was when she stepped out of the house one afternoon when he was at work, feeling too suffocated from being cramped in the house that brought her nothing but the dread of when he'd be coming back home.

To stay in a miserable house while a dream-like place would greet her whenever she'd step outside seemed like a waste of life.

But what could she do when her health and mind wouldn't allow any of it?

After putting her young son to rest, Shen Li stayed by him. He was a quiet child when young, mostly staying in one room because Shen Li didn't let him come out too often.
