A/n: This fic is heavily inspired by CommanderBear's fanfic don't look down ('cause you are royalty). All the events in that fic are canon in the backstory of this fic, so I would seriously recommend reading it if you would like to understand a lot of important parts of this fic! If you don't want to read it, I do have a Q&A chapter where I answer a lot of questions and explain the backstory of the characters and plot in general.
This is a Lukercy fic, so if you don't like that ship, don't read this. Luke is 18 and Percy is 16, though they only have crushes on each other, they are not together (yet).
With all of that being said, thanks for reading :)
[TRIGGER WARNING for a slight mention of Nausea in the first non-italic paragraph. Feel free to skip that paragraph if you are sensitive to that kind of content.]
"Who's that?" Percy asked, picking his jaw up off the floor.
Jason turned and, when he saw who Percy was looking at, he laughed out loud.
A girl in a strapless lilac ballgown. It looked like something from a Disney movie or a music video. Curly blonde hair cascaded to the middle of her back. She was talking to a man Percy recognized from a dinner earlier that week, Freddy something. With her deep tan, blond hair, and athletic build, she looked like the classic image of a California girl. Her grey eyes were the most captivating thing Percy had ever seen.
"That," said Jason, "is Annabeth Chase. She is going to eat you alive."

Percy was walking around the Independence Day Ball with Jason, surprisingly having a pretty good time, with all things considered. He and Jason were getting ready to meet another set of officials and their partners when all of a sudden his vision started to get blurry. Percy started to feel dizzy and nauseous, and knew from past experience there was a high chance he was going to puke on Jason.
"Hey Jason..." His words were slurred and as he tried to take another step forward, he found couldn't figure out how to walk straight. "Percy?" When Percy didn't respond and continued to try and clear his vision, Jason got more worried, "Percy?" He asked, louder this time.
Jason's calls caught the attention of Poseidon, who was not far from them at the time. Poseidon had been talking with the Prime Minister and her wife about how things were going with Percy and Triton when he heard Jason's urgent tone as he called his son's name.
Poseidon was confused about what was happening at first. All he saw was Percy holding his head, crouching down slightly as Jason held onto his shoulder, a worried look on his face.
Poseidon quickly excused himself and walked over to Percy who had stopped walking in the middle of the room.
Jason tried to straighten Percy up a bit so as to not attract any more attention from the other attendants of the ball. "Percy? What is going on? What are you doing?" Percy didn't say anything, and instead groaned in response, doubling over onto the ground from the dizziness.
Percy's hearing started to go fuzzy as well, but he could just barely hear Poseidon calling for one of the security guards before he blacked out completely.

When he awoke, he found himself on a bed in a different room that he had never seen before. It was nothing like the rooms in the palace. This one was more refined, there were touches of Greek architecture and decorations here and there. To fit in with the other rooms of the palace, it would have needed to be more glaringly royal with more ancient expensive artifacts.
