My head hurts. I've been studying phoenixes for the last four hours and I have school in an hour. I don't think there's any point, honestly, seems how my teachers absolutely hate me, I have not attended summer school at all even though every year I am supposed to attend, I have had sixteen out of school suspensions, twelve after school detentions, twenty-one ISS's, too many bad grades and not enough good ones. I sigh and change into my uniform. Maybe something interesting will happen today.
As soon as I walk in, I see Conflux Arcana's seventh grade class of Witches giving a presentation. Syna is at the front, leading everyone through it. I panic when all eyes suddenly go to me.
"I... uh, I'm sorry I'm late..." I murmur before sliding into my seat and staring at Syna. She was wearing a dark purple leather jacket, black jeggings and jet black heels. I continued to stare at her, my thoughts dark and lustful as I completely ignore the presentation.
Once school ended and I got home, I ran to the study room. I steal a glance at the pile of family trees and happen see one that is out of place that has my mothers maiden name on it. Euqinu. Out of pure curiosity, I read it. I get through the first five or so chapters before I put it down again. My mother was a witch. My father is only partially human. They loved each other. This meant that my mother was a traitor to her kind. That's why the witches killed her. She loved my father and I and she was killed for it.
After finding out that my mother was a traitor and had been executed, I mean, I always knew that witches killed her, but I never knew that she was executed. I took my shotgun down from the wall and was about to load it, but then I thought better of it. I went downstairs to talk to my father about my mother. Getting my dad to talk about Mom is as hard as finding a needle in a haystack. But I had to try.
"Father, what did you know about Mom? Do you know what she was? Do you know why she was killed?" I gasped at my father.
"One thing at a time, Silas." Father says, slightly amused. "Yes, I know what your mother was. She was the most beautiful witch I knew until I met Syna. But no, I do not know why she was killed. Do you?" Father asks half heartedly. So my father knew she was a witch.
"Yes I do. She loved us. That's why she was killed. She was classified as a traitor by the Council of Witches." I say. He stares at me, stunned.
