Oh my god. I actually did it. I got rid of Syna’s memories like what Rubyrose and Retsnom did all those years ago. What I plan to do is give her the memories of me and her, but she will only remember me as her best friend, not the person she hates most in the entire world. She’ll remember everything that we did together, from running around the woods that we were not technically permitted to go into, to my mother helping her with a scratch. Of course that was before she was executed, though that leaves me thinking; who brought her back? Maybe I could ask her but that sounds like an awkward conversation.

“Hey, Mom, you know how you were dead for eight years? Who brought you back?” Yeah, that's not gonna happen. Back to Syna. I should check on her but I’m too lazy. I'm just gonna have a nice little friendly chat with her brother, Rosn. I almost forgot that he was in my basement dungeon…On my way down the stairs I began to rethink my decision. Maybe I should check in with my mom and sister. I groan at the problem. I need to talk to Rosn but I need to check in with my mother and my sister. Why do dilemmas suck so much? You know what? I’m just gonna go check on my buddy Rosn and then check in with the fam. Speaking of the fam… I wonder what Dad is up to. Never mind. I’m just gonna go talk to Rosn.

“Look who showed up." He said mockingly as I approached. "It’s the monster who drugged my baby sister. Let me guess. She’s probably crying all alone because of you? Let me tell you this, Monster. If I found out you hurt my little sister, you would not wake up the next morning.” Rosn threatened, grabbing the bars of his cell.

“Phoenix, you couldn’t hurt me if you tried. Exhibit A: You’re locked up. Exhibit B: I’ve drained all your powers. Your physical strength is not enough to do any significant damage. Do you want me to keep going?” I pause. “Didn't think so. Now, I just want to talk to you. You know, catch up on what I’ve missed, etcetera.” I stated as Rosn glared at me, baring his sharp teeth that were not quite fangs. “Okay, okay. I’ll leave. I’ll have you know, Syna has no memories of anything. She is also under the influence of Acanzé. I’ll leave now.” With that I leave, Rosn dumb-founded and a little scared.

I walk up the stairs to see my mother sipping coffee at the dinner table. Iridessa is nowhere in sight. My mother glances up at me. I look back at her. She’s beautiful; dressed in different shades of purple and blue, but no matter what she wears, she looks good in it.

“Silas, are you alright? You look more antsy than usual. Was it something that happened when you went to talk to Rosn?” My mother asked lovingly.
“Rosn never liked me much, did he? I mean, whenever I was playing with Syna, he was eyeing me the whole time. I always wondered what I did to make him hate me. Now I know. He never trusted me because of you. He didn’t want me near his sister. Tell me I’m wrong, Mom. Please. Tell me there was a time that Rosn didn't hate me.” I plead, my voice starting to break.

“Oh, hunny. You have no idea how much he despised you. Even before my execution, he hated you. Simply because you are a male with his sister. None of it was even your fault.” Mom told me, her voice starting to drift off. She isn't the most reassuring person ever, and that's just it. Don't ask her questions that you don't think you can hear the answer to. She will never lie.

“Thanks, Mom. By the way, have you seen Iridessa?” I want to check in with my sister, then I'll go see Syna.

“She’s in her room, studying. Why?” Mom answers.
“I want to go see her.” I start walking to her door when Mom stops me.

“Wait, Silas. It would be best to leave her alone. Also, why did the principal call your father earlier? What did you do this time?” Mom ends with a motherly snarkiness. I struggle to contain a giggle.

“I missed a field trip, and I sent a kid- male, mind you- to the hospital. That's most likely why.” I say with a yawn. Before she can reply I turn to the room I put Syna in, forgetting about Iridessa. I throw open the door to find Syna still sleeping. I tiptoed over and clasped her hands in mine. I saw her eyes flutter as I did so. I sigh, relieved. Now I can start giving her certain memories back. Her eyes are completely open now.
