Today was Anakin and Odessa's anniversary, two years to the day that the pair spoke a vow greater than any document or law; but a dedication to one another that proclaimed their love and loyalty to one and other. They vowed to fiercely love each other in all forms, always and forever. There was always something about the dark eyed brunette that made Anakin feel that much more alive and a whole lot less loss in the world, she was a reason to continue, and a reason to fight for peace and prosperity. He could recall clearly the moment he decided he was going to ask Odessa Tove to become his wife, the memory always being transparent and crystalline. Anakin Skywalker knew from the instant his lips first touched hers, when their eyes communicated in a way their mouths would never allow them too. Their love blossomed in the shadows, and unfortunately that would always be their blessing and curse.

He wasn't one to let things slip through his fingers; and yet she almost had. Holding your wife in bed whilst falling asleep to the reassuring  sound of her heart beat, switched to running her limp and lifeless body into a medical centre in an instant, like a flip of a coin and a role of a dice. Threats and danger lurked in every corner, and Anakin didn't realise he wasn't untouchable until his meaning of life was almost taken away from him, brutally and mercilessly. She almost slipped through his fingers, and he would be a fool to let them get away with it.

Anakin despised the colour white. It was far too muted and sterile. He also hated medical centres, the whole interior being unnerving and unsettling, like it was trying to conceal the real reason why people ended up in these places. People went there when they were sick or injured and yet why were so pure and spotless, like a hint of blood had never touched the walls or surface. There had been so much blood- her blood; and now it was all gone, polished and pristine like it once was.

His hands lay in his head as he attempted to block out the memory's of people rushing towards him as she was snatched from his arms, the familiar taste of failure coming back once they took her from him. There were flashes of her pale lifeless skin; Padme's face of dejection and Ashoka look of disbelief as they all stared down at the women he had promised to protect, his wife. And the worst part of it all was being unable to break down at the sight of her, but respond and communicate like his mind wasn't on one thing and one thing only.

"You should go get some rest." A soft yet pleading voice spoke as he raised his head from the ground

Padme finished plating her cousins hair as she spoke again "You look tired Anakin-"

"I'm fine Padme." He snapped, his eyes trailing quickly back to the motionless female lying on the bed, who had a droid beside her, checking her heart beat and stats.

"Well you don't look fine." She sighed "Look I was able to stop visitors, but that doesn't mean people won't be looking for you Anakin. People- the Chancellor, most probably need to speak to you, it's not healthy nor smart to stay here all day."
