Gaster was not pleased in the least bit. Every blast, every stab, every hit Avery had taken was something he'd also taken. Alphys had forced him to lay down so that she could make sure it wasn't life threatening, whatever was happening. His HP kept falling, though at some point it glitched into Wingdings so Alphys couldn't see if he was falling down. She was desperately trying to find out why, though. It came to her a little slower than she would have liked to admit. A conversation had in one of the most anxiety inducing days of her life. The day Dr. Gaster was saved, and the Riverperson was revealed to be a human and his adopted child. WD performed a revival spell and finished my broken soul by giving me a piece of his. I need to be within his soul range, or we will both dust. That was right! The Riverperson and Dr. Gaster was literally linked! So it was likely Riverperson was in some sort of fight - and was clearly on the losing side. Alphys had to find them and stop this before they both died! Alphys checked the doctor one more time before running for her cameras.

Just like Avery, Gaster regenerated. Just like Avery, he took a shortcut home to see what the hell was going on. Avery was mending her magic enchanted cloak, which was suspiciously burned and torn up. "Avery! Avery, what happened? Are you alright? Who hurt you?" Gaster could admit, he hadn't been giving her nearly as much time as he wanted. In fact, she'd seemed to have been actively distancing herself so he could be with his actual children... "Sans and I had a fight, but I think it might be resolved... maybe." She replied after some hesitation. Gaster frowned and looked upstairs where he could sense his son's soul signature. "I will reprimand him. I know he hasn't been very nice to you since this seventh soul's fall -" Avery caught Gaster's arm, shaking her head. "I asked him to battle me and release his frustration on me. I-I know it was stupid, and I'm sorry for getting you caught up in it, but I need him to see I'm not like the royal children!" Gaster groaned, pinching his nasal ridge. "You are quite right. That was very stupid... but I see your point of view. Try something else next time, won't you?" Avery nodded so fast, happy to get a lessened blow. Gaster's anger didn't seem to be what it used to be.

Avery explained how the fight had started and why. She told him of Sans power and control of magic and admitted that she'd been holding back the majority of her own. "I didn't want to give Sans a reason to hate me further, nor did I want to kill him... so I minimized my own attacks and didn't even tap into my own abilities as a mage. Most of the time, I was honestly trying to defend from his attacks most of the time... well, more like taking the brunt of them..." Gaster nodded along and sighed before pulling her in for a small side hug. "Yes, I felt it, Avery... I can't begin to imagine what it had been like since my accident. I know you've done your best to do what you could... but sometimes people will have their negative opinions, family or no. I can't say I approve of your actions, but I appreciate your efforts not to kill him. However, Sans may need to know all of your abilities. Hiding them may have consequences in the future." Avery nodded as she hugged Gaster back. "I... understand, father..." Gaster smiled all the more, happy to hear that from her. "Good..."
