Avery paused, seeing everyone in the doorway. Their expressions all varied from excited (Papyrus) to conflicted (Undyne). Alphys fidgeted in place, nervous and curious, while Sans held a poker face. She knew he wasn't pleased with her. He wouldn't be for a good long while, probably. "What the hell are you?!" Undyne finally broke the silence that seemed to hang over everyone. "She is a human I adopted in the war." Gaster replied simply as he put things he'd been using for her checkup away. "Though due to an injury to my soul, I'd be considered more along the lines of a hybrid." Avery continued. "Our father wanted to make sure that my magic was still functioning and was not being affected." Papyrus swept in and gave Avery a big hug while Sans huffed, looking away. " i thought so... she didn't all out..." He muttered under his breath. Undyne blinked at Gaster as if he were crazy. "You adopted a human?" There was a hum of confirmation from Gaster. "I believed raising a young mage would give the monsters an advantage." Papyrus patted Avery's head with a grin. "And That Is How We Got A Sister!" Said sister chuckled at the affection. Papyrus was great.

Gaster ended up having to go over the whole Void thing all over again with Undyne and why Avery had been stuck in the boat. Avery had her own thing to do with the boys. Sans insisted on coming with as Papyrus came with her to get lunch. "Mettaton's Resort Is Just Passed The C.O.R.E!" Papyrus was saying as he pressed the button to the lift. "I'm surprised I haven't met Mettaton yet. He and Alphys are close, right? She created him or something like that." Papyrus nodded along, "Yes! But Mettaton Has Been Very Busy, As Of Late!" Avery 'ah'd and looked over at Sans. "You've been awful quiet there. Nothing to add?" Sans raised a bone brow and shook his head. "nah, i  listening. i didn't know you could use purple magic. that from your mage status?" She nodded, mildly surprised by his friendly tone. Maybe he wasn't upset after all? Or he was waiting until Papyrus wasn't with. "Yes, though it had been quite a long time since I've tapped into it. I usually don't have to use magic at all -" Papyrus jumped back in excitedly. "Perhaps We Can Train, Sometime!"

MTT Resort was big and grand, telling Avery that Mettaton had quite the large ego. She supposed anyone would, being the Underground's only TV star. Papyrus was busy ordering for everyone, so Alphys didn't have to eat unhealthy ramen for the millionth time in a row, leaving Sans and Avery together alone in the lobby area, "Mettaton is aware he's damaging his own property with that water fountain... right?" Sans snorted. "he don't care. he's rich and has connections. he can get it fixed, no prob." Avery already knew Sans didn't get along with the superstar, but this only seemed to solidify the point. "Sans, about my magic -"
"water under the bridge. it's probably a good thing you didn't go all out. i already had a feeling you were holding back, anyway." Avery chuckled in relief. "I don't want to hurt my brother." Sans sighed, running a hand over his skull. "please don't expect me to call you sis or something." She laughed softly. "Oh, not at all! I'm surprised that Papyrus did!" Speaking of, Papyrus came over happily with an MTT brand bag and a holder of sparkly parfaits. "READY TO EAT THE BEST FOOD EVER?! Other Than The Great Chef Papyrus Amazing Spaghetti."
