Andy is at work in his office he had just finished talking with you on the phone. His assistant knocks on the door
"Come in" Andy says without taking his eyes of his laptop
"Mr. Barber there is a someone here to see you" she says "she says her name is Laurie" his assistant says
Andy look up "Laurie?"
The assistant nods "yes sir"
"Let her in" Andy stand up from his chair as Laurie walks in through the door "Laurie" he says "are you okay?" He asks as she nods
"Yeah I just needed some time" she says
"Yeah yeah what ever as long as you are okay" Andy walks up to her and hugs her. He dose care for her because a part of him feels guilty for the way he had treated her before.
"I'm good. I think I just owe you an explanation" she starts by saying. She explains everything to Andy just the way she told you. She tells him about the pregnancy and that she and Jon are trying to make things work and needed some space to do that. "I'm telling you all this because you deserve to know. I know you hate Jon and don't think he's a suitable father for Matt, but he is Matts real father and always will be. You need to accept that" she says "what happened in the past stays there. I have finally moved on" she says
"Good" Andy says
"But you need to stay out of Matts life" she says
"What? You can't do that I-" she cuts Andy off
"I can. You're not his real father. You have done a great job filling that gap when Jon wasn't around but now that he's back-" now Andy cuts her off
"Now that's he's back so what? I just disappear out of his life?" Andy is getting mad
"Look we need space to grow as a family" Laurie has.
"So what I was just filling a gap for the past 6 years. Look I understand you guys need time I'll give you all the space you need but Laurie you know better than anyone how much I love that kid" Andy argues
"I'm not here to ask for your permission, I'm
Here to tell you. The old me wouldn't have even told you but I've changed and I need you to accept that" she stays clam but Andy is obviously is furious and hurt.
"Do I at least get to say bye to him?" Andy asks
"Jon had picked him up from school they are on there way home" Laurie says
"What are going to tell him? When he asks about me what the hell will you tell that kid Laurie?!" He's raises his voice
"That you left" she says "look that's the only thing a 6 year old will understand" she says
"Making me sound like that bad guy" he says
"I have too" she says
"Laurie just let me see him one more time" he begs
"I'm sorry Andy" she leaves the office
Andy punches the wall next to him, leaving a big hole on the wall.
He was distracted all day just thinking about the conversation he had with Laurie. Andy couldn't get any work done.
It was almost 10 o'clock when one of his colleagues knock on the door and enter "hey Andy did you finish the paperwork? I need to submit it for the trail for next weeks" the guys asks
"No" Andy says
"What Andy you were supposed to finish it today" he says
"Yeah sorry I got a bit distracted. I'll stay in late and finish it" Andy says
"You better. I'm counting on you"
Andy continues working. His hand was killing him. He shouldn't have punched that wall.
You get home at 11 after spending the day with your mom. No one's at home. You thought Andy would be home by now, especially because your birthday is in an hour and usually you two spend that 1 hour together just talking and stuff.
There was no sign of him being home.
You put away your stuff and call him. He doesn't answer. You call his office and his assistant answers
"Hey blake" you say
"Oh Y/n hi. How are you" she asks
"I'm good I'm just wondering is Andy still at work. He's usually home by now" you say
"Oh yeah he's finishing up some paperwork. Do you want me to transfer the call over to him?" She asks
"Yes that would be great. Thanks" you say as you wait for Andy
"Hey" Andy says. You could tell by his voice he's tired
"Hi are you okay?" You ask
"Yeah I'm good" he said
"Oh okay. Umm when you coming home?"
"Pretty late have to finish up some work" he says
"Oh okay. So we will just do the whole birthday thing tomorrow" you say
"Birthday? Oh right baby it's tonight. Fuck.. um yeah I really need to finish this today. But all your presents are in my office if you wanna open-"
"It's fine. We will just do something tomorrow" you say a bit hurt. Good thing you didn't really want anything so we didn't get as disappointed.
"No we always spend the last hour before your birthday together. How about you come here to my office" he suggests
"No it's really fine I know your busy" you say
"Just come" he says
You smile "okay"
"Oh and wear something easy to remove" he ends the call.
No matter what Andy prioritises you. Always.
