Cato's pov
"The recap of the reaping should be ready now." Brutus, my mentor, says, getting up.
"Why do we have to watch the reaping? We know the other districts have no chance, and we will win." Clove asks from beside me.
"Because of several reasons 1. To get to see District 1's tribute, your allies 2. To get a feel of the other district's 3. Don't be too convinced, aragonce is what gets tributes killed." Enobaria, Clove's mentor, says. *Both Brutus and Enobaria get up to go to another cart to watch the reaping. Me and Clove look at each other, eventually following the mentors. We get into a room and sit down on a sofa just before the TV turns on to start the reaping.*
"I always say to stay to the end of the reapings in case of anything interesting, but only pay attention to District 1 and maybe District 4." Brutus says.
"Fineeee." Clove says annoyed. *"District 1" shows up before a clip of their escort comes on. She asks for any volunteers and a beautiful blond girl volunteers. She walks to the stage, and when asked her name, she says, "Glimmer Belcourt." Good name for a good-looking girl. The woman then asks for any male volunteers and a tall, brunette, strong boy, but not as strong as me, walks up, and he says his name is "Marvel Sanford".*
"They look good, but you're probably better. They will be good allies." Enobaria says. *"District 2" shows up, and I see an image of Clove rushing to the stage volunteering, then our escort, Sebastian Hall, ask for any male volunteers. I see lots of hands raise and boys rush to the stage, but me in my awesome, strong, handsome self get's there first.*
"Yeah, you two are definitely better." Brutus says. *Now is when I lose focus and just sit there, not really listening until I hear shouting. I see a h/c haird girl in a black dress towards the back of the aisle and a small s/h/c girl towards the front of the aisle wearing a matching dress. The older girl then volunteers. I don't know how many reapings have gone by, maybe we are at district 5, maybe we are finished and at district 12 but what ever district we are at it's still a volunteer from a non-career district.*
"A volunteer from 7?" Clove questions. *Okay, we are at District 7. She's obviously been paying more attention than I have. The older girl is brought up to the stage, and the camera then zooms in on her and her escort. Now that it's been zoomed in, I'm starting to think she might even be pretty. Her h/l h/c hair is in some sort of braid I think you call them. Her pretty e/c eyes stand out, and her nice knee-length black dress with f/c flowers I think they are on it makes her seem pretty. When asked her name, she says, "Y/n. Y/n y/l/n.". A pretty name for a pretty girl, interesting.*
"So she volunteered for her sister. How sweet." Clove says sarcastically.
"She's dumb for thinking she has any chance up against you two." Brutus says laughing. *Her tribute partner is called up. He is nowhere near as interesting as y/n l/n is. The rest of the reapings go by, I pay more attention this time, but I can't get this y/n l/n of my mind. District 11 surprises me. A small girl maybe 12, with dark coily hair, is reaped, but she's not what surprises me. Her district partner is what surprises me. He is tall and looks pretty strong, but that might be just because he's quite a bit older than his district partner. Standing next to him, she looks even smaller than she actually is.*
"Okay, he might be a slight problem. He looks pretty strong." Enobaria says. *"District 12" comes up, and that's even more interesting than District 11. A volunteer. She says her name is "Katniss Everdeen" she volunteered for her sister, just like y/n l/n did.*
"That's...new." Enobaria says.
"She's even stupider than the volunteer from 7, thinking she'll even get past the bloodbath." Brutus says laughing. *The reaping ends, and we all separate. When I get to my room, I get ready for bed and lay in my bed. It doesn't matter how hard I try to sleep. I can't get y/n l/n's pretty e/c eyes of my mind.*
