Cato's pov
*Me and Clove are in the lift going down, she's talking about how excited she is to start training for the games until the doors open at District 1. We all start to talk about what weapons we will go to and things like that. The doors open with a ding, and we go out into the training center, we are first there, so we continue to talk. Tributes start to slowly file in, I look over at the door every time it opens to see if I can see the girl who's caught my eye several times already, y/n l/n, but also stupid girl on fire. The doors open with a ding, and I look over and see her, y/n l/n, and her district partner. She walks in with her hair like she had it in the reaping, the training outfit with some boots.*
"Cato!" Clove says, hitting my arm. *I turn to look at her confused.*
"Yeah?" I ask, confused.
"Were you even listening?" She asks angrily.
"Yeah, yeah, of course." I say lying.
"What did I say then?" She asks with a smirk.
"Umm....about how you're going to archery?" I make up on the spot.
"No!" Clove shouts.
"Mate, maybe you should listen." Marvel says.
"Maybe he has a good reason." Glimmer defending looking at me. *I see Clove role her eyes.*
"Attention tributes. I am Atala, head trainer for the tributes." A dark skined woman says. *Everyone turns to look at her.*
"In two weeks, twenty-three of you will be dead, one of you will be alive. Who that is depends on how well you pay attention over the next four days." The women starts. *I look at the tributes to see how they react to being told they are going to die because I'm going to win.*
"Particularly to what I'm about to say. First, no fighting with the other tributes, you'll have plenty of time for that in the arena." Atala says. *I look over at y/n l/n and girl on fire to see how they are reacting. I see the girl on fire watching what Atala is saying, I look towards y/n l/n, but soon she looks over at me. She looked over at me. She obviously wants to look at me. I mean, I don't blame her. I am strong, tall, and handsome, and this shirt emphasises my huge biceps. I smirk at her, like I did at the tribute parade, making sure she knows I know she's looking at me. I wink at her to see how she reacts at that. I wouldn't be surprised if she faints from my awesome looks and then me paying attention to her.*
"There are four compulsory exercises, the rest will be individual training." The woman says. *Y/n suddenly looks away from me and looks at the tributes from 12. I now look back over to the girl on fire. She looks at me, and I smirk at her, but she looks away. I look ahead at the woman.*
"My advice is don't ignore the survival skills, everybody wants to grab a sword, but most of you will die from natural causes. 10% from infection, 20% from dehydration, exposure can kill as easily as a knife." The woman says.
"You will have an hour of individual training, and then we will do one compulsory task." She finishes. *I turn to my fellow careers.*
"So, where should we go to first?" Marvel says, looking at me. *We have established I'm the leader of this group, so I make the main decisions.*
"All go to your main weapon. So Glimmer archery, Marvel spears, Clove knives and me swords." I say. *We all go to our own weapon and start to train. I pick up a sword and start to attack dummies. I look over to see what tributes are where. 100% not to see y/n l/n. I see y/n l/n over at the knot-tying station with her district partner. I soon go back to slicing dies heads of. Until a whistle goes, and Atala, the head trainer, calls for everyone to come over for the first compulsory task. She gets us to all stand around her as she explains the task.*
"You will, one by one, go across the course using the circles to hook onto the handles." She explains. Easy! I'm a career for a reason, I'm strong, so I can go across that. *We all get in a line, and I'm at the back. Save the best till last, obviously. The first person, a boy from a lower district's, gets across at an okay speed, he looks pretty strong, so that's probably why he did well. Then the boy from a middle district slowly goes across, but he doesn't even get halfway before he falls with a BANG! Ha! I knew the weak boy couldn't do it. Everyone goes out of line to see what happened and most snicker. A whistle goes.*
"Stay in line. Trainers move the boy." Atala says, and trainers start to move him. *Atala calls for the next person to go. I'm at the back and stand and watch in silence, other people talk together, but I pay no attention until I hear her voice. I don't know what they are saying, but y/n and the ginger girl are talking. I watch them for a little while as the line moves further and further forwards as the line gets shorter. She's going to do well. The way she's showing her hand presumably to hold the rings with confidence, she'll also have sponsors because of her interesting get up at the tribute parade. The ginger says something, then y/n turns to look behind her, and they stop talking. It's almost y/n's turn now.*
"Next." Atala says for y/n to go. *She walks across the metal beam to then go up the steps to get to the start of the course. She pauses before letting go of the sides and jumping up to grab the circles. *She slightly swings her legs to get some momentum. I knew she'd know how to do it. She removes the right circle and hooks it on the next handle. With the momentum of going forwards she moves her left hand forwards. She goes forwards at an okay pace for her. She gets half way and pauses. I hear Clove snicker at her stopping. What the hell. I know she stopped because she's not strong enough to go across, but still. Let her be her, and focus on yourself.*
"You can do this y/n!" I hear the ginger girl shout at y/n. *She starts to go across again. It almost makes me sad, the way they talked to eachother and the confidence she has in y/n, but they are both going to die. I'm going to win. Once she makes it to the end, I see her turn around and look at the ginger girl who has both her thumbs up. She goes down and sits, leaning up against the bench to watch the tributes. The ginger girl goes across slowly, but she does it. Clove goes across pretty quickly, the boy from 11 is the same, but the next few tributes are a little but slower. Now it's my turn, and I go across pretty quickly and then as I finish, I turn to see if y/n is still by the bench, and she is watching me. I smirk her knowing she was lookimg at me. She is definitely looking at me because of my looks. We look at each other for a few seconds before the head trainer says something.*
"Tributes! Time for lunch." Atala shouts.
I have decided that Sundays is better for me to upload, so I will be changing it.
As always, if there are any mistakes please feel free to correct me.
I hope you had a great day!
