My parents mean everything to me, especially my mom Cheryl. She is my best friend and has always been by my side when things got tough. Now, my dad Eric, he is a disabled Veteran and served in the Navy after he got out of High School. He has always supported those in LGBTQ+ though he still has issues now with Kami, I will explain about Kami later on. My parents are two opposite people and raised differently in the world. My dad was raised to be around any and everyone no matter their skin color, gender, sexuality, or anything else that is conflict.
My mom on the other hand is a whole nother story and prepared to be reading this one for a bit. Mom was raised strictly by my grandparents Joan and Gail, I love them both dearly and may they rest in peace but because of them being so strict with my mom, she didn't know much of anyone outside of the LGBTQ+ Community. She went to school with gay guys but nothing more. She didn't know anymore about the Community and what it stood for in retrospect because my grandparents kept her closed out from the world. Until she met my dad in High School, she got to eat more new meals and learn to cook so much besides what grandma had shown her.
It took my mom until I was 28 years old to finally tell her that I am lesbian and being open about it because I was prepared for her to tell me that it is still a phase after her telling me for years since I was 13 years old. I tried to shove myself back into the closet recently because everyone has been on my case when I broke up with Larry back in mid-2022 to get my happiness but she didn't want that and she wanted me happy which I am forever grateful for.
I love both my parents and they mean everything to me. Even if I am not what they expected out of me which was to be happy with a man like Larry but my happiness is on hold for now which I will explain much later on.
