The airport felt like a maze, with people rushing around and announcements blaring through the speakers. The air was filled with the scent of coffee and freshly baked pastries, but the knot in my stomach kept me from enjoying any of it. I couldn't believe I had agreed to this—11 hours on a plane, sitting next to Martinius, the last person I wanted to be near.

As we reached our gate, Marcus and Nora walked ahead, chatting and laughing like this was just another day. I envied their easygoing nature, how nothing seemed to faze them. Martinus, on the other hand, was still shooting me dirty looks whenever he thought I wasn't watching. He was being as difficult as ever, and I wasn't about to make it easier on him.

"Ready for this?" Nora asked, glancing back at me with a smile.

"About as ready as I'll ever be," I muttered, my voice dripping with sarcasm.

We handed over our boarding passes, and as we walked down the narrow jet bridge, I could feel the anxiety creeping up on me. The tight space, the thought of being trapped in a metal tube thousands of feet in the air—it wasn't my idea of a good time. But here I was, doing it all for Nora.
