The day before Christmas Eve came, and for the past few days, I hadn't been feeling well. That day when I saw Paige entering the gym and Kk lying to me had really affected me. My heart felt heavy with betrayal and confusion.
I tried distracting myself by joining my mom in preparing for the upcoming Christmas Eve, but it was hard to put aside the sadness I was feeling. Every time my thoughts drifted back to Paige, my chest tightened. I had hoped to finally find clarity and answers, but I was left with more questions and heartache.
I smiled faintly as I hung the last ornament on the Christmas tree, a purple snowflake. Our Christmas tree was full of pink and purple ornaments—my idea. I sighed, realizing that these stupid purple ornaments made me think of Paige. Purple was her favorite color. What was I thinking?
I stepped back and admired the tree, my mom noticed that I'm done decorating the tree and walked over.
"Great job,Honey." My mom praised me and gently hugged my shoulders. She noticed my melancholic expression and looked at me, her eyes full of worries
"Dear, are you okay?" she gently asked
I forced a smile, "Yes, Mom. Just tired"
She gave me a knowing look but didn't press further. Instead, she handed me a cup of hot chocolate. "Here, it might help you to get your christmas spirits back" she smiled sweetly and kissed my cheeks before leaving me.
As I sat by the window, watching the snowflakes gently fall while enjoying my cup of hot chocolate with melted marshmallows, I heard June's voice from behind me.
"Hey, how are you holding up?" she asked, worry lacing her tone.
I took a deep breath, trying to find the right words. "I feel so lost, June..." My voice was barely above a whisper.
June walked over and sat beside me, her hand gently resting on my shoulder. "I'm here for you, Whimsy..."
I nodded, appreciating her comforting presence. "I just don't know what happened. She made me feel really special, and... then the next thing I knew, she left me stranded and confused." My voice trembled as I stared into my cup, watching the marshmallows slowly melt into the warm chocolate.
June sighed, her voice soft but firm. "Whimsy, sometimes people do things that don't make sense, to the point where it makes us feel stupid and hurt. But you deserve someone who will be clear about where you stand, not someone who leaves you questioning everything."
"It's just so hard, June. What if I never get the closure I need? What if I'm stuck in these 'what ifs,' not knowing why she left me hanging?" I blinked back tears, finally letting them fall.
June went silent. Even she didn't have the answers.
I leaned my head against the window, feeling the cold glass press against my skin. A few seconds later, I felt June's warm arms wrap around me.
"You will be okay, Whimsy. Everything will be okay," she whispered softly.
I hope you're right, June. I really...hope you're right.

The next day, I woke up to the sound of my phone buzzing with a notification. Someone had messaged me. I sat up and reached for the phone on my nightstand. When I opened it, my eyes widened in disbelief.
Paige sent you a message.
I couldn't believe it. Was I dreaming? Was this some kind of Christmas miracle?
With a trembling hand, I opened her message.
Paige
let's meet at the park this christmas eve.
I miss you so much, Whimsy.
My heart raced as I stared at the screen.
What could this mean? Was this the closure I had been longing for, or was it something else entirely?
