"You like her, don't you?" Whimsy stopped working on her final project when she heard June. She turned around and found June standing in the corridor of her bedroom door.
"Who?" Whimsy asked, trying to play it cool.
"You know who I'm talking about," June replied, walking in and sitting on the edge of her bed.
Whimsy sighed. "June, not again with this kind of conversation," she said, going back to typing on her laptop.
June let out a sigh. "I'm serious, Whimsy."
Whimsy paused, her fingers hovering over the keyboard. "I don't know, June. I'm still unsure about my feelings."
June watched Whimsy's reflection in the mirror in front of them. "It's okay to be unsure. It's part of the process."
Whimsy turned around and fully faced her cousin. "All I know is I'm happy with her, and I get this tingling feeling in my stomach every time she smiles at me. My heart always beats fast every time I feel her presence," she admitted.
June smiled. "Sounds like you're in love with Paige, huh?"
"Am I?" Whimsy asked, more to herself than to June.
"Don't stress too much about it, Whimsy. There's still time to figure out your feelings," June said with a reassuring smile. "I'm here for you."
Whimsy slowly nodded. "Thanks, June," she said, appreciating her cousin's support.
"It's normal to feel a bit overwhelmed when it comes to love. I know this is your first time, and that's why you're confused. But you know, just give it a try," June added.
Whimsy sighed. It was her first time experiencing this kind of feeling. Love, relationships, dating—these were never her things. She had always been more focused on her studies, but everything changed when she met Paige. Suddenly, her priorities shifted, and she wasn't sure if that was a good or bad thing.
"Paige... she makes me question everything," Whimsy admitted.
June smiled softly. "Love makes you question everything, Whimsy. It makes you see the world from a different perspective. And it's not a bad thing, it just means you're growing."
Whimsy sighed. "And what if it doesn't work? I'm going back to Australia soon."
Deep inside, she was already contemplating staying in Connecticut for good. She was starting to love this place, especially because of Paige. She could transfer to UConn and repeat her fourth year. She was sure she could make it work.
June shrugged. "Who knows? Maybe Paige feels the same way about you."
Whimsy gasped. "You think so?"
June chuckled. "Friends don't look at each other the way you two do, Whimsy."
