Chapter 4
It's been two days since Jazzlyn went missing. It came as a shocking heat wave to me the next day after she left my night that house. It happened that her driver came by to pick her that night but didn't see her, or any sign of her, he only saw her scattered phone lying on the ground.
He reported what he'd seen that night to her mom, and she didn't waste time reporting the incident to the police. The case has been going on for the past two days, the police still trying to investigate the incident thoroughly. I on the other side has been feeling guilty for that past two days, till date.
Everything else, feels dead without her. I feel helpless without her, I just want that my scary best friend back. I keep reminiscing how her mom went insane when she'd heard Jazzlyn was missing, she said she knew something like this was going to happen and she's been trying to prevent it, but she wasn't quick enough to act. She's been skipping meals, crying and thinking about her daughter since that day.
The police had asked her few questions about what she knew, but she didn't mention it in my presence when I was with her in the police office. They asked me to excuse them, so that I don't hear a thing. Right now, posters of her pictures are around the street and city, just incase anyone have seen where she is.
The sun has finally gone down, only golden rays of it are beaming from it's distance. Kelvin drops a cup of coffee on the table and sits opposite me.
“She's going to be fine.” he assures me and squeezes my hand gently. I smile a faint smile at him.
Aside from everyone in my department, Kelvin is one of those guys who piqued interest in her dismay. I got to find out he had a crush on her since hundred level but didn't make a move in telling her, said he's waiting for the right time. But now, he is totally regretting everything, for not telling her on time and feeling his loosing hope even though he masks out those thought with a simple smile.
He led us to his dad, who is a FBI agent. And they've been working on the case thoroughly, even though they've found nothing. And I've been very grateful for his help.
“You know, if she was with her phone, my dad and his crew would have tracked her down easily. But it's seems her captors were smarter enough not to fall into that kind of trap. But I'm sure she's okay were ever she is, it's just a matter of time and they'll find her.” he says, painfully. And forces a smile that fades out immediately. I smile back weakly, holding tightly to the hem of my skirt.
“I'm sure she's going to be fine, I'm very su—sure.” I choke out the words, tears escaping from my eyes freely. I wipe them out with the back of my hand, sniffing in and taking a long drink from my coffee. I hear a long tiring sigh from Kelvin.
