—WAKING UP ON THE COLD, HARD FLOOR GAVE ARES FLASHBACKS OF THE WOOL'S ORPHANAGE. He groaned in pain, cracking his back and groaning even more. He slowly stood up and held onto his bed frame, trying to remember what had happened.

He immediately remembered when his eyes went on the fake diadem on his bed. Ares walked over to it and threw it at the wall in anger. He was losing. The war hadn't even begun, and he was already losing.

His father would be disappointed.

So would his mother.

He turned to his door when he heard thumps on it. He slowly walked over to it and unlocked it, sighing in relief when it was only Nagini.

"You forgot to unlock the door last night. I slept in the hallway, almost scaring the young Malfoy to death!" complained his snake as she slithered into his bedroom.

Ares rolled his eyes at her dramatics and closed the door. He had bigger things to worry and think about.

Like how Harry Potter found out about him having a horcrux.

There was no possible way Harry could've found out without any help. How did he even know about the existence of horcruxes?

Ares couldn't figure it out.

He laid down on his bed, grateful for the comfort his back felt after a night of laying on the floor.

He had passed out the whole night. And it seemed like nobody even checked up on him.

Ares should've been glad nobody heard his screams the night before.

But all he felt was alone. He felt lonely.

He knew they heard him. The Malfoys, he meant.

But they didn't care enough to check up on him.

They left him to his own ordeals, even if that meant life or death.

Ares snapped out of it and stood up. He took a quick, hot shower in his private bathroom and got quickly dressed. When he was done, he opened his bedroom door and walked downstairs, heading towards the meeting room of Malfoy manor.

He called his death eaters using their dark marks and his wand. It came in handy.

Soon enough, the whole meeting room was filled with Ares Riddle's followers. The young dark lord's followers.

He ignored them as they bowed to him one by one before sitting down in their usual spots.

When everyone was finally seated, Ares looked at the filled meeting table.

He pointed a finger towards a group at the far end of the table. "You four. Cause destruction and chaos in another village. Cause fear." He ordered, turning away after the four followers nodded.

His eyes stopped on Severus Snape. "How is Hogwarts doing, Severus?" He asked, after taking away the headmaster and headmistress roles from the twins. He deemed Snape to be more fit for the role of the actual headmaster instead of only acting like a headmaster, and he was right.

"Hogwarts is well, my lord." Snape replied as he stared directly into the dark lord's eyes, something almost nobody else could do. "I have a couple of students that wish to join your cause and became death eaters."

"Bring them here," replied Ares immediately. "Now."

Snape nodded and apparated away.

Meanwhile, Ares looked at his followers again and stood up.

He slowly walked behind each and every one of them.

Their breaths would hitch when he would pass by them. They didn't know why their lord seemed more angry than usual.

"It turns out," started the dark lord, insanity creeping up in his eyes as he stopped and surveyed the meeting table feverishly with his eyes. "That we have a spy amongst us."

Gasps and widened eyes erupted around the room.

Theo Nott leaned forward with wide eyes. Who dared to go against the dark lord? Did they not see what happened to the last spy?

Ares continued looking at his death eaters, for once not figuring out who it was and not knowing what to do.

But he didn't show that.

His eyes stopped on a woman sitting in the middle of the left side of the table. It was the look in her eyes that made Ares do what he did.

He went over to her side and stopped behind her, whispering for everyone to hear, "You have betrayed me, haven't you?" He grabbed a chunk of her jet-black hair, making her face him.

The woman gulped and shook her head feverishly. She was as pale as snow, obviously very frightened. "I didn't tell them anything, I swear! They came to me—"

"Who?" interrupted Ares immediately, only tightening his grip of her hair.

She flinched and said the name that made Ares go weak in the knees, "Harry Potter."

But he didn't show the effect that name had on him.

Instead, Ares clenched his jaw and motioned for her to continue.

So she did. "He came and tried to turn me into a spy. I refused, I swear! But I accidentally let slip about the last small raid. It wasn't even a big deal, anyway, I reckoned after I realized what I had done—!"

The last small raid, where two of Ares's deatheaters died thanks to the aurors catching them. The other four escaped, just barely.

Ares turned towards a hungry Nagini and gave her a nod. "Nagini, kill." He said in parseltongue and moved out of the way, sitting down in his usual head seat, ignoring the screams of the woman being eaten alive by a snake.

But that didn't make sense to Ares. She wasn't the spy he was searching for. She couldn't have known about the horcrux. Ares was sure of it.

He rolled his eyes when Draco and Daphne both gulped in fear at the sounds.

Atleast his new right hand man, Theo, seemed to be taking it well.

And he let out a sigh and shook his head when some of the deatheaters threw u all over the floor.

Atleast Draco didn't vomit. Ares mentally applauded him for that.

When Snape apparated into the room with new students from Hogwarts, who all wanted to become deatheaters, Ares stood up and silenced the screaming woman with a wave of his hand.

It didn't help much, though.

The young students had widened eyes at the sight of the woman.

The woman, whose black hair turned red due to the amount of blood on her. The woman, who looked like she could be a mother, or a wife.

The six students shared terrified looks, but that didn't stop the grins from appearing on their faces as they bowed down to Ares and revealed their inner left forearm. The forearm that was getting branded by Ares with the dark mark at that same second.

It was a memorable way to spend the Yule break.
